Ron Rivera can't make it work with everyone. Quinton Dunbar wanted a trade or his release 10 days ago after not hearing from the Redskins about an extension he was negotiating with the previous regime. Dunbar walked that back two days later and said he just wanted to know where he stood with the team.
Rivera and the coaching staff met last week to go over the roster and their individual evaluations. This was always the plan, but Dunbar wanted an answer he wasn't getting. Today's report says that he is still requesting a trade or his release after trying to discuss a contract extension with the Redskins, but they declined.
Dunbar has 1 year left on the 3-year extension he signed, and is set to make $3.5 million. The Redskins just released Josh Norman, so losing Dunbar will be a blow to an already weak CB group. Fabian Moreau instantly gets elevated to starting outside CB if Dunbar leaves and the team has a huge need at the position.
Sources close to #Redskins CB Quinton Dunbar tell me that he had reached out to the team to discuss a reasonable contract restructure but the club declined the conversation. Dunbar remains resolute in his desire to be released or traded.
