Good afternoon...it’s been a while. I appreciate hearing from so many of you in my absence from the site the last couple months. Since I have clearly not left for good, no farewell post was or is necessary. Like so many of you, I have had a variety of things demanding my time and attention the last six to eight months, and that has taken me away from my regular interaction with y’all. I have left the place in great hands in the meantime, as Scott continues to relentlessly update the masses on this platform that I have taken—and continue to take—so much pride in molding the last decade.
Enough of that. The show must go on, and fortunately for me (and maybe you if you choose to tune in), that is exactly what it will be doing. The live video Tuesday show that I have been producing the last few years will continue on, and will be posted in this space each week. To join the conversation, the 1st Amendment Sports YouTube channel is currently a free subscription (always has been, with no immediate plans to change). I’ll post the agenda here each week, and look forward to being a bit more interactive with this audience I have had the pleasure and honor of leading for so many years.
It’s an old-school football show, focused on the past, present and future of the Washington Football Team—even when I forget and call them by their old name (I’m sorry!). My co-hosts are Kevin Ricca and Tim Strachan. Kevin’s grandfather (“Big Jim” Ricca) played for the team back in the day, and he was a local high school and college quarterback in the nation’s capital. Tim Strachan needs no introduction—in addition to being one of the all-time greatest high school quarterbacks from the DMV, he was also on the radio call for the University of Maryland football team for over 20 years sitting next to Johnny Holliday.
Our show is meant to resemble the conversations all of us have with each other about this team, and football in general. It is meant to carry the conversations on this site forward and in lieu of actually resolving every squabble, our hope is that we provide multiple perspectives that help us hear each other better.
Sometimes we’ll add a guest or two, but mostly we just try to be irreverently respectful...and of course enjoy a little of what we like to call the “Spirit o’ Sonny” while we broadcast.
On tap tonight:

P.S. No, it’s not lost on me that I am starting a new column with a day of the week in the title.
P.P.S. For those that have enjoyed “Looks Like Someone Has a Sixpack of the Mondays” as much as I enjoyed writing them, stay tuned. I will have information on where you can find that soon!
