To Win or Not to Win? That's Not a Question

There is still some mindless chatter bouncing around local sports bars that the Skins would be better served to lose to Philly than to win the NFC East. Balderdash! (I'll admit I've never used that word before). Apparently the thinking is that a loss would bounce the Skins up the draft board by about 10 spots. Yawn. And that even if we beat Philly, there's no way we get past either the Bucs or the Rams. Baloney! First off, it is my hope we take a QB in the first round. The top four passers should be gone whether we pick 10th or 20th. But Kyle Trask and/or Mac Jones should still be there. I don't see how a team without a quarterback could pass up either of these guys. I understand that both of them have lineman speed but both of them have terrific arms and are SuperSmart. Most importantly, after the latest debacle, both have an incredible work ethic. For the record, Snyder doomed any chance Dwayne had at being successful by locking him into his hometown. He was never forced to grow up. Living in his parents house and hanging with his high school buddies, he never had a chance. That being said, we have to have a QB. Sign a veteran, (Fitzmagic?) but draft one of these guys in the first round. As far having no chance in the playoffs? Yes, the Rams embarrassed us earlier this year and going up against Tom Brady in the playoffs is never fun. But in the NFL anything can (and does) happen. But even if we get trounced in the playoffs - we would have won the division. I don't care that it was a weak division and don't care what our record was. RR (cancer and all) and Alex Smith (standing on a leg made of shredded wheat) would have won 4 of 6 down the stretch to win the division. Therein lies the silver lining to an otherwise gruesome year. And who knows? Maybe Heiny gets hot and we shock the world. If nothing else, and I know this is a reach, but maybe, just maybe, after Snyder made such an absolute mess of things, he's finally learned that if this team is ever going to turn things around, he's got to keep his grubby little paws off the team. Go Skins!
