Washington's Week 17 win-and-in game with Philadelphia has been flexed to primetime. They will play on Sunday Night Football with a chance to clinch the division.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) December 28, 2020
The last time they did that was 2012 when Alfred Morris ran all over the Cowboys. That was a magical night.
#Eagles-Washington flexed to next Sunday night because you needed to endure this dreadful season for eight more hours.

Next week's SNF finale: Washington at Philadelphia.

• If WFT wins, it wins the NFC East.
• If the Cowboys beat the Giants earlier in the day, and WFT loses, Dallas wins the East outright.
• If the Giants beat the Cowboys, and WFT loses, Giants win the East via a 3-way tie.
Streak continues. No repeat NFC East winner since 2004.

What would be more fitting for this sorry division than the Giants winning the NFC East with a three-way tie at 6-10?

The Eagles have opened as two-point favorites over Washington next week.

Sources close to the situation said Dwayne Haskins did not turn down requests to speak to the media today and that he was informed that Taylor Heinicke would be meeting with reporters and he could go home. Haskins subsequently spoke to reporters tonight. https://t.co/jsi4yZm6Nw

If this is the case, that’s an unfortunate misunderstanding that looks very bad on Dwayne. When it rains, it pours. https://t.co/ws9WwFVv9W

Suffice it to say, Dwayne Haskins has some growing up to do. A reality that’ll sting & pierce in the glare of the public eye, whilst accepting he’s taxed the patience of the organization with self-inflicted moves. His path can still arc w/ time away, self-investment & fresh eyes.

Chase Young on Heinicke: "I love Taylor... I went on the field with some encouraging words and he was like, 'I got you bro.' I said, OK, he's got some swag." Said TH has "competitive excellence... something we learned at Ohio State; be ready when you're number's called."

Need to take into account that it was essentially garbage time, and he was going up against soft coverage. However, his pocket presence was good, and he showed he had the ability to extend plays. Also, he had 3 passes dropped, but got away with 1 that should've been intercepted.

— Chris (@ChrisToTheHess) December 28, 2020
Biggest reasons for loss:
— Chris (@ChrisToTheHess) December 28, 2020
1. Haskins is a hemorrhoid
2. Refs blowing dead a clear fumble/TD
3. Scott Turner not staying on the run game#WashingtonFootball
Ron Rivera said the explanation he got on the fumble by Mike Davis was that his forward progress was stopped, blew the whistle.

Our #NFL playoff picture is updating, and it will include this inglorious distinction: The eventual winner of the NFC East will be the first team in #NFL history to make the playoffs after starting 2-7 or worse.https://t.co/zqqiFcAQKO
— Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) December 28, 2020
From @ESPNStatsInfo: Washington, the Cowboys and the Giants were 2-7 through 9 game. One will become the first team to make the playoffs after starting 2-7 or worse in the Super Bowl era. From 1966-2019, teams to start that poorly were 0-for-258 reaching the postseason.
