We’re entering Week 16 of the 2020 season, and 3 teams in each conference have already clinched playoff spots. There will be a few more this weekend, and the Washington Football Team is trying to be one of them. They haven’t been to the playoffs since the 2015 season, which is also the last time they won the division championship. Before that, they hadn’t won the NFC East since Robert Griffin III’s rookie season in 2012. They were eliminated from the Wild Card race last weekend, so it’s division title or bust for them.
Luckily for Washington, the New York Giants have fallen back to reality and keep losing despite having the most professional backup QB in the NFL (Colt McCoy) leading their playoff push. The Dallas Cowboys and Giants are both one game behind Washington, giving the Football Team a very good chance at clinching the division when they host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. New York is a 10 point underdog to the Baltimore Ravens, and the Cowboys are 2 point home underdogs to the Philadelphia Eagles.
New York and Washington were originally scheduled to play in the 1 pm time slot on Sunday. This could have potentially had the division locked up by 4 pm. The NFL likes to keep interest in all their games, and that would have made the Eagles-Cowboys game (more) irrelevant. Now we will know how badly the Giants lost to the Ravens right around kickoff for Washington’s game.
Our Week 16 game against the Panthers has been flexed.
