— John Keim (@john_keim) December 20, 2020
I’m a competitor and I will learn from this and be better for my team. We’re not done! Thru God’s Grace we will achieve everything we have sought out to do! See you next week
— Dwayne Haskins, Jr (@dh_simba7) December 20, 2020
Alex Smith remains the starter, per Rivera. Not surprising at all, but since the coach said so, there you go.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) December 20, 2020
Hope or hopeless? Future Washington starter or future elsewhere?
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) December 21, 2020
Two years into Dwayne Haskins' polarizing NFL career, the answer to those questions remain in the eye of the beholder.https://t.co/tCzpZI81Yl
Dwayne Haskins today completed 38 passes but did not throw for 300 yards.
— Football Perspective (@fbgchase) December 21, 2020
It's the 3rd-most completions in a game where a QB failed to hit 300 yards, behind Cousins in that ugly 2018 loss to Buffalo and Billy Volek against the Chargers in 2004.
First down rate (passing first downs divided by pass attempts, including sacks) is doing the work you think completion percentage is doing.
— Football Perspective (@fbgchase) December 21, 2020
Aaron Rodgers and Justin Herbert provide a huge example of how different these stats can be. Week 15 stats below.... pic.twitter.com/AIRUTASIFg
That game was 100% winnable. Frustrating and encouraging at the same time. Come back healthy next week and bounce back against Carolina.
— Robbie Duncan (@RobbieDuncanOL) December 20, 2020
Tough loss but I swear that the future is looking bright, can’t wait to be apart of it all
— Kelvin Harmon (@_HarmonK) December 20, 2020
Logan Thomas has the first 100 yard game of his career. 101 on 13 receptions. What a nice get he has been for this team. #Washingtonfootball
— Julie Donaldson (@juliedonaldson_) December 20, 2020
Logan Thomas' 13 catches are 2nd-most in a game in #WashingtonFootball history. Only Roy Helu's 14 catches top what Tomas did today.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) December 20, 2020
Logan Thomas had 13 catches for 100 yards today.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) December 21, 2020
18th time a TE has gone 13/100.
Jason Witten (4x) Zach Ertz (4x) have done it most.
Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark on the list.
Kittle & Waller are only other active TE's who have.
Logan Thomas caught three fewer passes today than he did all of last season. His success isn't going to change much in the final two games. He might not catch 13 passes again but he will be a great option for whomever is at... https://t.co/O4MaxgsdaB pic.twitter.com/HqaaahqP91

The NFC East champ won't have a winning record. That's now certain with Washington's loss.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) December 20, 2020
Two big things:
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) December 20, 2020
-Morgan Moses shouldn't have been in the game. He was hurting, not helping.
-The missed extra point ultimately proved very costly.https://t.co/GDq98Xi0hY

With a Giants loss today and next week to Baltimore, combined with a Washington win over Carolina next week, and The Football Team can rest their starters for week 17, as they will be locked into the #4 seed.
— Football Perspective (@fbgchase) December 21, 2020
Yes, they'd be 7-8 and resting starters.

Haskins threw 55 passes today. The only other time a WSH QB did that this season was Alex Smith vs DET. Smith threw for 390 on his 38/55. Haskins went for 295 on 38/55. WSH scored 12 more PTS in the DET game.
We also don’t need to sit up here and act like the competition is comparable. Haskins didn’t go against the Giants twice, Lions, Bengals, Cowboys twice, and San Fran. We saw him against the Ravens, Browns, Cardinals and Seahawks all playoff teams.

Next week the Washington Football Team, with the help of a Giants loss, could clinch the NFC East by beating the Panthers, the franchise that fired Ron Rivera one year ago.

Life is wild.
Ravens will open as 10-point favorites over the Giants
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) December 21, 2020
Washington is a 2.5-point favorite against Carolina
If both favorites win, the Football Team will be wearing commemorative championship hats next Sunday afternoon.

This game in Arizona is insane.
— Rich Eisen (@richeisen) December 21, 2020
Cardinals survive. But man, did Jalen Hurts give Philly a chance.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) December 21, 2020
Eagles lose a game in Arizona but they sure seem to have a quarterback.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) December 21, 2020
Jalen Hurts left it all on the field. The team around him isn’t good enough yet, but one thing is clear:
— Brett Kollmann (@BrettKollmann) December 21, 2020
The Eagles are better with him at quarterback...and if Carson Wentz doesn’t like that - tough shit.
I don't know how sustainable Jalen Hurts playing at this level is. I also don't see how you can roster Wentz's contract and not start him in 2021.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) December 21, 2020
Those two things said, I've been blown away by Hurts so far. He has balled out. He was excellent today.
What a performance by @JalenHurts in just his first road start.
— Rich Eisen (@richeisen) December 21, 2020
He is absolutely a starter in this league, making that Foles or Wentz decision Philly once had look like total child’s play.
In the short term, the @Eagles are remarkably still not out of it at 4-9-1.
Down to 64 scenarios in the NFC East -- the #Eagles loss hurts them, but does not eliminate them. All four teams, including the #Giants, #FootballTeam and #Cowboys, still have a chance at the #4 seed.

— Around The NFL (@AroundTheNFL) December 21, 2020
By video there’s still a wide range of outcomes for Edwards-Helaire. His legs split, putting a lot of strain on his left leg. Possibilities include labrum tear in the hip, hip fracture, hamstring strain/tear and knee sprain.
— Inside Injuries (@InsideInjuries) December 21, 2020
Drew Brees has never completed under 40% of his passes in any game in his career. He's at 35% today.
— Football Perspective (@fbgchase) December 21, 2020
His 2020 completion percentage has dropped today from 73.5% prior to today to 70.4% as of right now
Everyone knew, of course, that Jets-Rams would be more riveting in the late-afternoon window than Chiefs-Saints.

The Jaguars GM job is open. As part of it, you've got ...
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) December 21, 2020
• Multiple picks in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th rounds.
• The second-most cap space in the NFL going into 2021.
• A few nice young pieces (Henderson, Shenault, Allen).
And now, potentially, Trevor Lawrence.
It's hard to go 0-16.

So why is passer rating meaningless? The Jaguars took 5 sacks on 34 dropbacks today, which is ignored in passer rating. And only 50% of the 22 completions went for a first down!
— Football Perspective (@fbgchase) December 21, 2020
So Minshew had a 76% completion rate but a 32% passing 1st down rate. That's a *huge difference*

This is misguided aggressiveness by the Giants. This is a game that you might be able to win kicking field goals.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) December 21, 2020
Joe Judge is one of the most conservative coaches in the league this year, so it's good to see him being aggressive and unfortunate to see the Giants failing in those situations.
