It was reported on Wednesday that the Washington Football Team was signing RB Lamar Miller from the Chicago Bears practice squad. Today the team made that move official. Miller has to go through COVID-19 protocols and won’t be available for Sunday’s home game against the Seattle Seahawks. Miller will be available for next week’s game against Ron Rivera’s former team, the Carolina Panthers, if he passes the necessary tests.
Washington has a big need at RB due to Antonio Gibson’s turf toe injury that threatens to keep hi out for several weeks. Washington had two RBs on their active roster(J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber) and two on their practice squad(Javon Leake and Michael Warren II) before Miller’s signing. Washington also placed a waiver claim for former Cleveland Browns RB Dontrell Hilliard, but he was awarded to the Houston Texans.
The corresponding move was also reported today before it was made official. Starting free safety Deshazor Everett suffered a chest injury last week and had surgery today. This is another blow to a safety group that continues to get thinner. Landon Collins went to IR earlier in the season and was replaced by the impressive Kamren Curl. Deshazor Everett took over the starting spot from Troy Apke, and immediately brought a physicality to the secondary that made opposing teams notice. The safety group will now likely be Jeremy Reaves and Kamren Curl as the starters with Apke and Cole Luke backing them up.
We have made multiple roster moves:

WFT tried claiming another RB off waivers yesterday. Now it lands one. Not a great sign for Antonio Gibson's status this week or next. https://t.co/N7IzWpacy2
Washington safety Deshazor Everett had surgery today and went on IR, per team. He left the game Sunday with a chest injury.

Early this morning, Everett posted an IG story, apparently from the hospital, saying, "They know what it is so y'all don't need to worry."
