That was ugly. The Washington Football Team had 3 turnovers, and a ton of mistakes in the first half. They are losing to the New York Giants 20-3, and it could have been uglier than that. They also lost starting QB Kyle Allen after getting carted off the field with an ankle injury.
1st Quarter
Team Captain Terry McLaurin wins the coin toss
"Everything he does, he excels at," Ron Rivera, probably, when sending out Terry McLaurin for the coin toss. https://t.co/QD6KG58mDa

Giants stopped on their first drive
Washington brought the heat on that last Jones pass and forced an INC. 3rd down coming up...
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) November 8, 2020
Daron Payne was having none of that. Huge 4th and 1 stuff

Cue the clown music for this fumble by Antonio Gibson

Big bomb
Washington's defense immediately concedes a 50-yard pass to Austin Mack to flip the field.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) November 8, 2020
Montez Sweat doesn’t like QBs
Montez Sweat MADE SURE Daniel Jones didn't have the ball on that carry. 3rd-and-long
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) November 8, 2020
Under pressure
Washington brought the house on 3rd down there. Kam Curl unaccounted for and lands a big hit on Daniel Jones as he throws. pic.twitter.com/h5yJFAe5Ov
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Washington's pass rush wrecked the Giants on 2nd and 3rd down from the 20. Settled for a FG. 3-0.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) November 8, 2020
Kam Curl redeems himself by running free on a blitz and forcing Daniel Jones to just throw the ball away on third down. Chase Young was also there.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) November 8, 2020
However, the 38-yard FG is good.
Giants 3, Washington 0 (9:35 1Q)
Logan Thomas drops the ball
Nice throw by Allen on 3rd and long, but Thomas can't hold on and Washington is forced to punt. pic.twitter.com/nMkCbhjeqx
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Kamren Curl meets Alfred Morris
Nice tackle from Kam Curl. Came up and stuck Alfred Morris.

Heartbreak Kerrigan still sacking QBs
Ryan Kerrigan and Jonathan Allen combine for a nice sack on Daniel Jones.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 8, 2020
This is what the #WashingtonFootball defensive front wants to get all day. pic.twitter.com/O5QQYeB35p
Flea flicker attempt from the GIants, doesn't pay off. Washington's DL not biting on run fake. Chase Young, Jonathan Allen and Ryan Kerrigan all rush up the field. Allen does a nice job hopping outside a gap and still penetrating. He and Kerrigan combine on the sack. pic.twitter.com/UTgtbj9LnL
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Ryan Kerrigan and Jonathan Allen tag-team sack Daniel Jones.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) November 8, 2020
Kevin Pierre-Louis was so close
Wow, Kevin Pierre-Louis with a hell of a job concentrating on that INT. Scooped the juggled pass before it hit the turf. WSH has the ball at the the NYG 33
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) November 8, 2020
Isaiah Wright fumbles the punt
Wanted: 1x proper Punt/Kick returner for #WashingtonFootball
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 8, 2020
Direct inquiries to Ashburn, VA.
(Isaiah Wright fumbles this punt return in a very poor way...) pic.twitter.com/f7IVToKGG4
Giants make them pay for the fumble
One play later, Wayne Gallman runs into the end zone. Giants up 10-0... https://t.co/ynpZGdIvHd
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) November 8, 2020
Giants TD - Looked like a missed run fit here. Kerrigan works the edge on the back side, Payne works from the A gap to the B gap, leaving A wide open. Holcomb scrapped to the edge, leaving nobody to fill the A gap. Easy TD pic.twitter.com/EpzrfBAQ7H
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Terry McLaurin is still very good at football
Hell of a job by Terry McLaurin here. Motioned into the backfield, works to the flat on a PA fake. Not there so works down the sideline to make himself available. pic.twitter.com/rrpFShJ2ru
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Terry McLaurin (unsurprisingly) comes through on 3rd down with an 11-yard gain. @WashingtonNFL moves the chains.

Kyle Allen gets injured badly
Alex Smith is in the game after ugly leg injury to Kyle Allen https://t.co/m1ynF9Vri7 pic.twitter.com/fo796kfBhd

Jabrill Peppers takes down Kyle Allen low, and Kyle Allen has badly injured his lower leg/ankle.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 8, 2020
Alex Smith is warming up.
Another November QB injury for #WashingtonFootball is a cruel coincidence. pic.twitter.com/IqRDcgTbFB
Kyle Allen's left leg has been stabilized and placed in a boot. Teammates came over to him. Allen points to the crowd before cart goes into the tunnel. A leg whip penalty was called on Peppers.

2nd quarter
Washington finally gets on the board
Hopkins from 48 is good. 10-3 NY

At least Montez Sweat is making plays

Communication breakdown
Looks like some communication issues for Washington's secondary on 3rd and short. Bostic sitting in an underneath zone watching the crosser come from his left, doesn't get any calls about the one coming from his right. Shepard allowed to run free for 1st down. pic.twitter.com/HeFGUeaMyo
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Remember Graham Gano?
And the 48-yard field goal by Gano is good, and Washington now trails, 13-3, after its field-goal drive.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) November 8, 2020
Alex Smith goes down
Not a sack Smith can afford to take here. Free rusher off the edge with a CB blitz. RB didn't check him and OL not sliding to it, so Smith has to get the ball out or run by him. Does neither, gets sacked. pic.twitter.com/fHAGcNfdmd
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Remember Alfred Morris?
Alfred Morris has played in one game this season; had 28 yards... He just gained 35 on three consecutive runs.

Giants score again
Engram beats Curl in the slot. Tried to be physical with him
— John Keim (@john_keim) November 8, 2020
Defense is having issues today
Washington gave up 240 total yards to the Giants in their first meeting. Its already given up 245 yards in the first half today.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) November 8, 2020
Cam Sims sighting!
Nice ball by Alex Smith to Cam Sims on the dagger concept (Turner calls it 86 in digit system)/ Washington's most explosive pass of the game. pic.twitter.com/8ETld13lOq
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 8, 2020
Alex Smith kills the drive with an INT
Next play. Smith attempts to check it down to McKissic, who trips up as he releases out into his route. Ball goes straight to the LB for the INT. pic.twitter.com/ShcW8YcYiW
