For the third time this season, Antonio Gibson surpassed 100 yards of total offense and added a touchdown. This time, he’s been nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the week.

Gibson ended the game against the Bengals with 94 rushing yards and a touchdown, with another ten receiving yards to put him over the century mark.

For the season, Gibson has compiled 530 rushing yards at 4.5 yards per attempt. Against Cincinnati, he averaged 5.88 yards per carry — his second best rate of the season (he ran for 128 yards at 6.4 ypc versus Dallas in Week 7). For the year, he has 8 rushing touchdowns.

Gibson also has 27 catches for 212 receiving yards in ten games. The degree to which Washington has relied on Gibson as a runner rather than a receiving threat has surprised some observers, as the rookie spent most of his college career as a wide receiver before moving to running back in 2019. He had only 33 carries in his 2-year career at Memphis. He already has 119 rushes as an NFL running back.

At his current pace, Gibson is on track to rush for about 850 yards, and 12 or more touchdowns. With his receiving yards included, the young running back is on pace for nearly 1,200 offensive yards from scrimmage.

Gibson was drafted 66th overall in the 2020 draft.
