The tone of the game completely changed when Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow went down screaming in pain from a left knee injury. The rookie has been phenomenal this season, and looked like he was poised to continue picking apart Washington's defense apart in the 2nd half.
Washington took full advantage of a demoralized Bengals team, and shut them out in the 2nd half. Burrow's replacement, Ryan Finley, got abused by Washington's pass rush, and gave up a pick on his final drive. Antonio Gibson had one of his best days on the ground, and helped Washington lock up their first win since Week 7.
3rd Quarter
Troy Apke drops an interception on 3rd down:
Should have been an INT by Apke. Ball thrown straight at him. Guess there's a reason he plays DB instead of WR. pic.twitter.com/w9k7p5LAhV

Troy Apke with the dropped interception.....Woooooooo
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) November 22, 2020
Excellent series by the D, though it should have ended with a pick.

Tress Way, still MVP:
TRESS.
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) November 22, 2020
F'IN.
WAY.
Tress Way's best punt of the year just checked up at the 2 yard-line. You can't do it any better than that.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) November 22, 2020
It's up to the Washington defense to make that punt the turning point that it could become.
Joe Burrow injured:
Looks like Burrow got caught between two rushers. Allen came in from his left and hit his legs while Sweat came off the right and hit higher. Burrow's left knee took the force of the hit. pic.twitter.com/Sl3X3uAQah

Players are on their knees. Place is absolutely quite. Cart is coming out
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) November 22, 2020
Burrow to the cart. Dwayne and Chase among those nearby. This sucks so much pic.twitter.com/OsO28laiBV
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) November 22, 2020
Former team-mates Dwayne Haskins and Chase Young both came up to Joe Burrow on the cart and gave him love.

Hate to see an injury for Burrow like this.@youngchase907 @dh_simba7 pic.twitter.com/zzHCzZZChx
Antonio Gibson time:
BIG run by Antonio Gibson to open up Washington's drive. A gain of 19 sets the offense up at the Bengals 36.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) November 22, 2020
There goes Antonio Gibson again for another 16 yards. 1st-and-goal for @WashingtonNFL https://t.co/xoLc8J0WaU
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) November 22, 2020
Steven Sims Jr. gets his first TD of the year:
Welcome back, Steven Sims. Alex Smith finds Sims in the end zone for a three-yard touchdown. Washington leads 14-9 with 8:58 left in the third.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) November 22, 2020
On the TD, good patience by Smith. Could see that Sims was going to break free; just had to get away from the middle.
— John Keim (@john_keim) November 22, 2020
Great job by Alex Smith staying patient on this play. Gives Sims time to work back across the middle. Bengals defenders on the back side fail to spot Sims' crosser in time to prevent it, Smith finds him for a TD pic.twitter.com/hvsUzfvc4S

Joe Burrow ruled out, Ryan Finley now playing:
Ryan Finley is now at quarterback for Cincinnati. 2019 fourth-round pick who @WashingtonNFL saw last preseason.

Heartbreak Kerrigan!:

Ryan Kerrigan gets an almost free sack here. Bengals have a TE chip him, but the RT then almost forgets about him. Kerrigan gets the edge easily and closes on the QB for the sack. pic.twitter.com/7knSto05D4

Defensive pass interference:
Defensive pass interference being called on the Bengals. Alex Smith tried taking a shot to Isaiah Wright along the left sideline

Dustin Hopkins makes the FG:
Alex Smith feels the pressure on that 3rd down play, sends it into the dirt near a receiver to preserve field position. FG for Dustin Hopkins. 32 yarder is good, and Washington's lead is now, 17-9.

4th Quarter
Morgan Moses:
Nice run by Washington here. Schweitzer does an amazing job reaching across the face of the 3T to seal him off and allow Moses to pull to the edge. Moses makes the most of it and Gibson gets a clean edge to turn the corner. pic.twitter.com/A7i4eBoH8y
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) November 22, 2020
Big Morgan Moses pulling around the edge as a left tackle had to feel weird for him there. He did a nice job. Great run design. 17 yards for Gibson. #WashingtonFootball gashing the Bengals now.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) November 22, 2020
Dustin Hopkins 50 yard FG alert:
Dustin Hopkins nails the 50-yard field goal. He's perfect on the day, even though he'd been battling a groin injury throughout the week
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) November 22, 2020
Huge 50-yard field goal from Dustin Hopkins to make this a two-score game. @WashingtonNFL leads, 20-9, with about 10 minutes left.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) November 22, 2020
Tim Settle joins the party:
SACK for @tim_settle pic.twitter.com/RXU6COoicO

James Smith-Williams gets his first sack:
First career sack for @jacsw3! pic.twitter.com/mj755KmYUg
— Washington Football Team (@WashingtonNFL) November 22, 2020
James Smith-Williams is on the sack sheet. The 7th rounder picks up the first of his career. #WashingtonFootball has 4 today, all in the 2nd half.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) November 22, 2020
Jimmy Moreland really wanted that sack.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 22, 2020
It would have been his career first sack, and you don't get a lot of chances as a slot corner.
Danny Johnson injury:
Danny Johnson walked into the tunnel. He was doing a hand motion on the right side of his body as he was walking with team personnel.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) November 22, 2020
Dustin Hopkins miss:
I was talking about Hopkins vs. Bullock, but then Hop just missed a FG for the fifth time in seven games... https://t.co/Fdj5qEsaex
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) November 22, 2020
Dustin Hopkins misses from 38. He's hit from 50 and 32 and missed from 38. That will keep him from having a feel-good week going into a Thanksgiving day game against Dallas.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) November 22, 2020
He tied Mark Moseley today for the most 50-yard FG's made in #WashingtonFootball history.
