There’s not really a way to sugarcoat the result of Sunday’s game. The Washington Football Team’s loss to the Detroit Lions flat out sucked. The mood following the game is best described with one four-letter word: P-A-I-N.
This was a winnable football game that was given away by a slow start early and silly mistakes late. Both of which have been very consistent in the Dan Snyder era.
Now the team sits at 2-7 having lost it’s last two games coming off the bye it what was supposed to be the “winnable stretch” of the schedule. The NFC East, mathematically, is still up for grabs, but the banner won’t be hung in the nation’s capital this year.
Are you surprised?
That question isn’t meant to come off as negative or condescending. It’s instead a genuine question to the fans.
This year was always supposed to be a rebuild. That’s why Ron Rivera was brought in to be the coach. The culture was more damn bad than it was damn good and Rivera was the man to fix it.
So I pose the question again. Through nine games of the Washington Football Team’s season, are you surprised? The team has one less win than I was thought they’d have through this point in the season. That aside, I’m not all that surprised.
At this point it’s fair to start paying attention to potential draft order. Especially with the quarterback of the future isn’t on the current roster. With Trevor Lawrence all but confirmed to go No. 1 to the Jets, Justin Fields seems like the guy to target. But a there isn’t exactly a smooth path to Fields as it currently stands. Future quarterback discussion closes this episode of the podcast.
