The Washington Football Team has absolutely dominated the Dallas Cowboys in the 1st half. They have a 22-3 lead heading into the 2nd half, and look like they know what they’re doing for the first time in weeks. The defense has been forcing turnovers and the offense has been scoring with multiple people. Here are some quick highlights from the 1st half.
1st Quarter
Washington’s opening drive
Here. We. Go.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) October 25, 2020
Dallas wins the toss, but defers. Kyle Allen and the Washington offense get the ball.
Big hole for Antonio Gibson, who gains eight on his first carry for the game.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) October 25, 2020
J.D. McKissic keeps the chains moving on a seven-yard catch. With Washington being thin at WR, expect more of that from its RBs today.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) October 25, 2020
Antonio Gibson breaks a 40 yard run
Antonio Gibson breaks a huge run on a jet sweep around right end. Picks up 40 yards. First-and-goal @WashingtonNFL
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) October 25, 2020
Nice design by Scott Turner. Gibson aligned in the slot to the left. Cam Sims motions across the formation to block for Gibson who follows him around. Washington clearly feel they can get to the edge against the Cowboys. pic.twitter.com/AECjIAHiLz

Terry McLaurin just short of the goalline
2-yard TD pass to Terry McLaurin. Counts for now, but the replay folks are checking. Ball popped out when he reached for the pylon.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) October 25, 2020
Terry McLaurin stretches for the endzone on 3rd down, but replay confirms he's short by a few inches. pic.twitter.com/VQ0oNHwFJ1
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) October 25, 2020
Fail on 4th an goal
Tried for a QB sneak on 4th and goal with inches to go, Allen couldn't get in. Might have even lost the ball. Dallas ball. pic.twitter.com/kAtl0TJiTU
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
So Washingon has yet to score on its opening drive this season. Streak continues.

Landon Collins strip-sacks Andy Dalton, Washington gets safety
Better look at the blitz that caused the safety. pic.twitter.com/vxiMt1M2iF
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
The safety is why going for that 4th-and-inches was smart even if you don't get it. Bad things happen to teams with bad offensive lines backed up against their own goal line.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) October 25, 2020
Chalk one up to Rivera, Del Rio on the blitz, and Collins for making a big play. #WashingtonFootball
Washington gets the ball back
Nice route from J.D. McKissic on 3rd down, creates a ton of separation as he breaks outside against Jaylon Smith, gets the first down. pic.twitter.com/P7R9rJ4KdF
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
Logan Thomas just picked up 26 yards down the right sideline. He was WIDE OPEN.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) October 25, 2020
Looks like a coverage bust by the Cowboys here as Thomas is left unaccounted for on his wheel route. Easy throw for a big gain pic.twitter.com/SyU4mGjTC7
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
Feed Antonio Gibson
Antonio Gibson has set a new career high with 66 rush yards. It's the first quarter.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) October 25, 2020
Nice job by Brandon Scherff and Morgan Moses opening this lane for Antonio Gibson. Scherff gets a strong punch on the DT to allow Moses to reach and cut off. Scherff then works down the line and washes LVE out of the play. Gibson hits the lane and gets the TD pic.twitter.com/g0S1wMkgoZ

Dallas comes back with a FG
Dallas runs the subsequent kickoff back 66 yards, but Washington's defense holds without allowing a first down. Turns out you don't have to allow a TD just because you take the field in a tough position.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) October 25, 2020
Cowboys kick the FG. 9-3 Washington.
Logan Thomas injury?
Logan Thomas comes up gimpy after that play, where he tried to catch the ball over a defender blanketing him. Gets the DPI, but he comes off the field
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) October 25, 2020
Logan Thomas, who walked off the field under his own power with a small limp, just walked out of the blue tent and rejoined the offense on the sideline.
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) October 25, 2020
Missed opportunity
Allen does well to extend the play and scramble away from pressure, but he needs to just take the pass to McKissic and pick up the first down here. pic.twitter.com/RFyu4QSK33
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
2nd Quarter
Landon Collins injures ankle/Ruled out
Looked like that was a non contact injury as well. Never a good sign. He went straight to the blue medical tent on the sideline.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) October 25, 2020
Landon Collins is out with an ankle injury.
— Washington Football Team (@WashingtonNFL) October 25, 2020
Cart coming out for Landon Collins. Some speculation it could be an Achilles issue. Team announced he's out for the game with an ankle injury.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) October 25, 2020
Secondary
Interesting look on 3rd down here by Washington's defense. Fabian Moreau at CB against Cooper while Kendall Fuller aligns at safety over the stack set on the other side. pic.twitter.com/m6f4VDsJGY
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
Chase Young is good at football
That was a great hustle play from Chase Young to bring down Dalton one yard short of the first down marker.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) October 25, 2020
Dallas fails on 4th and 1
That was a nice fourth down stop by Washington to turnover the ball on downs. Dalton had Chase Young bearing down on him, which forced the incompletion.
— Zach Selby (@ZachDSelby) October 25, 2020
Chase Young doesn't get the sack, but he was in Andy Dalton's face immediately. Forced Dalton to scramble and heavy a desperation pass downfield. Incomplete, so Washington will take over.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) October 25, 2020
Terry McLaurin 52 yard TD!
Terry McLaurin goes deep for a 52 yard reception.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) October 25, 2020
Absolutely blew past the defender with pure speed.
Nice touch on the pass from Kyle Allen. pic.twitter.com/V8wcSwXkh1
Don’t mess with Terry
Here's McLaurin running by Diggs for a TD. Diggs also got called for a penalty. pic.twitter.com/7IhRSwpCMF
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
McLaurin and Diggs were jawing. Then McLaurin left him in his wake. This fade to break was savage from @Fox. pic.twitter.com/zOo9k6cCt4
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) October 25, 2020
Cole Holcomb is back
OMG COLE HOLCOMB JUST RAN THROUGH A MAN
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) October 25, 2020
My goodness. Cole Holcomb came full speed on a mission to blow up that play and Jon Allen benefitted with a sack. Punt time.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) October 25, 2020
Cole Holcomb absolutely bulldozed Elliott as he hung back in pass pro. https://t.co/aqPkWk28ih
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) October 25, 2020
Nice rush from Washington on 3rd down. Bring S Cam Kurl and LB Cole Holcomb off right side. Zeke put in a tough spot trying to diagnose who his guy is. By the time he figures it out, Holcomb blows him up on his way to a sack. pic.twitter.com/gVGA7D8DEz

Andy Dalton is not happy

Logan Thomas TD!
Jaylon Smith is gonna wanna burn this tape. Struggling mightily today. Washington goes for a PA pass on 3rd and short, leak Thomas out on a crosser. Allen finds him for a 1st down, then Thomas breaks the tackle attempt from Smith and walks into the end zone for the TD. pic.twitter.com/j9o8l0rQwl
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
Chase Young is so good
Cowboys ran away from Chase Young on that third down and Young still got the tackle. He's insane.
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) October 25, 2020
Daron Payne was just standing over a Cowboys O-lineman, which other Cowboys O-linemen didn't like. First guy over to help out Payne? Chase Young of course. SPRINTED over for some smoke
— Pete Hailey (@PeteHaileyNBCS) October 25, 2020
Deshazor Everett breaks up TD pass
Deshazor Everett with a great reaction and pass break up on a pass Andy Dalton floated to Cee Dee Lamb in the end zone. Went after the ball
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) October 25, 2020
Cole Holcomb INT!
Have a GAME @ColeHolcomb_ @budlight | #BudLightCelly pic.twitter.com/LI4Ty5tkg5
— Washington Football Team (@WashingtonNFL) October 25, 2020
Nice pressure off the edge by Ryan Kerrigan, walking the RT back into Andy Dalton's lap. Dalton throws slightly behind Zeke, who can't bring it in. Ball bounces up for Holcomb to INT. Big stop for Washington. pic.twitter.com/4pE68DWdFt
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 25, 2020
Washington is dominating Dallas
Washington has more rushing yards (126) so far in the first half against Dallas than they've had in any entire game since Dec. 1, 2019.

Don't see this often. pic.twitter.com/GXaSCyO3WO

The Cowboys have allowed 20+ points in the first half of 6 straight games.
— NFLonCBS (@NFLonCBS) October 25, 2020
They are the FIRST TEAM IN NFL HISTORY to do that. pic.twitter.com/9gVun1iMTh
