Saahdiq Charles dislocated his kneecap vs Giants, Washington hopeful he can return after the bye

Saahdiq stay injured

NFL: Washington Football Team at New York Giants Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Ron Rivera didn’t provide any real injury updates during his presser this morning. Three Washington Football Team players left the game vs the Giants yesterday with injuries. Rookie OL Saahdiq Charles got the call to play in his first NFL game, and was named the starter at left guard, replacing a struggling Wes Martin. He lasted two plays before a knee injury took him out of the game. Rivera praised him today, but acknowledged he has been plagued with injuries since being drafted in the 4th round this year.

Tom Pelissero broke the news about the nature of Charles’ injury, and gave a projected timeline for his return to the field. The rookie from LSU dislocated his kneecap yesterday. Washington has a bye after this week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. The early hope is that Charles can be back the following week when the team plays the Giants again.

Saahdiq Charles posted a positive message on instagram before the injury news came out.
