Ron Rivera told Larry Michael yesterday that he had the DC and STC jobs filled, but they were bringing in outside candidates to interview. Kevin O'Connell served as the Redskins offensive coordinator last season, and has already interviewed for the position.
Now we know one of the candidates interviewing for the job. Ian Rapoport is reporting that Carolina Panthers OC/QB Coach Scott Turner is coming to town for an interview. Turner is the son of former Redskins Head Coach Norv Turner. He was HC Ron Rivera's QB coach in 2018, before being elevated to OC this past season after Rivera's firing.
Rapoport suggests that O'Connell is still the favorite to land the OC job. He also says that if that happens, Turner could still join the staff as a QB coach to work with last year's 1st round rookie Dwayne Haskins Jr.
This would be a smart move IMO to bring him in as QB coach. You want someone who is a future OC for continuity with Dwayne because if KOC stays and is successful, he’ll get HC looks and leave. Want someone to slide up. https://t.co/XWenxVP6xB

As Ron Rivera looks to build his staff, he has already had multiple mtgs w/ Kevin O’Connell. KOC is under contract w/ Washington through next yr. Should the Redskins decide to let him interview with other teams, O’Connell will have plenty options. Per sources. #httr #Redskins
