Cam and Theismann have MVP seasons and a few Pro Bowls, but they both had some erratic play to go with their big arms. Jaworski and Simms have somehow become underrated over time after becoming better known as broadcasters. Both had plenty of seasons as top-10 quarterbacks.
Anae would not be blocked. After getting in on back-to-back sacks of QB Jalen Hurts in the second quarter, Anae followed that later in the quarter by beating Oregon offensive tackle Calvin Throckmorton with an inside move and hammering Hurts just as he released a downfield pass. The hit affected the throw, causing it to flutter for an easy interception by Ohio State LB Malik Harrison.
Last year Terry McLaurin shot up draft boards on the heels of a terrific Senior Bowl performance and there are some parallels with Jefferson. Even though he isn’t as fast as McLaurin they are both skillful technicians and superb route runners who also offer considerable value on special teams. The polish makes perfect sense when you consider his father is Shawn Jefferson, who played wide receiver in the NFL for more than a decade and now coaches the position. Jefferson won’t be drafted as early as McLaurin was but don’t be surprised if he is ultimately selected ahead of some wideouts with much higher profiles.
Trautman showed up at the Senior Bowl and showed off very, very good athleticism in space. He was a feisty and technical blocker that blew guys off the ball all week. Then, he skied up for numerous contested catches, and perhaps the most surprising thing was the adeptness for route running that he displayed. Trautman was a complete tight end this week and gained a lot of money by showing it off.
Claypool answered questions about his speed and showed off his own route-running ability, combined with his size you have a potential star receiver if he puts it all together. Mims was the best all-around receiver for me. He checked every box, and looked great throughout the week. He is another one that looks like he can be at least a number 2 receiver at the next level.
