The Redskins have reportedly claimed former Arizona Cardinals LB Tanner Vallejo off of waivers. Vallejo(6’1”, 220lbs) was a 6th round pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2016 draft. He was rostered for 15 games during his rookie year, but didn’t get a start. He was waived the following year, and picked up by the Cleveland Browns where he was on the roster for 13 games, starting one. He had 27 combined tackles last year along with a forced fumble. Vallejo was released in February and claimed by the Cardinals. He spent the whole offseason with Arizona before being released today.
The Redskins only kept 4 ILBs on their initial 53-man roster. Shaun Dion Hamilton(chest) and Cole Holcomb(AC joint) have both been dealing with injuries, but Jay Gruden said they are practicing and expected to be able to play. The Redskins had one open spot on their 53-man roster which is now filled unless other moves are made.
