Jay Gruden talked to the media after today’s practice. The Redskins have signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers OLB Noah Spence, who Gruden described as one of the best pass rushers on the street right now. Cassanova McKinzy reportedly had an MRI on his hip which could explain the move. Dominique Rodgers reportedly tore a ligament in his ankle vs the Cowboys, and has been placed on IR. Gruden said that CB Fabian Moreau could be back soon.

Redskins OLB Casanova McKinzy had an MRI on his hip, per source. No word on results yet. Big part of the reason the team signed Noah Spence.

Gruden to the podium. He says he definitely wants his defensive players to make plays, but for instance on the long TD Norman is in the right spot because he doesn’t know it’s gonna be a post. Has to play his spot and trust his help.

Offensive line:
Gruden said even tho they haven’t given up many sacks they are giving up “a lot of pressures”. A couple times Gruden said the collapsing pocket might have prevented Keenum from seeing some open targets down the field.

Paul Richardson Jr.:
Gruden said of Paul Richardson: “there are a couple routes where he’s running by people. ...just haven’t gotten him the ball.” Sometimes not seen; sometimes pressure on QB.
— John Keim (@john_keim) September 18, 2019
Fabian Moreau/Quinton Dunbar:
Gruden talking like Fabian Moreau will be back. He was closer than Dunbar today and obviously practiced where QD did not.

Running game:

— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) September 18, 2019
That said, he likes the looks they’ve gotten via playaction. “Hand the ball to 26 or fake the ball to 26. Both good options.”
