The Redskins signed TE J.P. Holtz from their practice squad on Saturday because Jordan Reed did not clear the NFL's concussion protocol in time to play against the Eagles. Holtz played 14 snaps on special teams, and zero snaps on offense. He was waived yesterday so the team could sign T.Y. McGill as the team deals with injuries to Jonathan Allen and Caleb Brantley in the defensive line.
The Redskins also opened up a spot on their 10-man practice squad yesterday by waiving LB Darrell Williams. That spot will not get filled by Holtz, he has been claimed by the Chicago Bears. He will join their 53-man roster and help them get ready for Week 3's Monday Night Football game between the Bears and the Redskins.
