The Redskins made several moves official today. They signed 9 players who were on the roster yesterday to the practice squad. This leaves them with one open spot. There were reports that the team also had interest in LB B.J. Blunt and TE Donald Parham Jr., but neither has been signed.
The Redskins also officially announced they claimed former Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood off waivers. In a corresponding move they announced the release of RB Byron Marshall.
Two other expected moves were announced today. RB Shaun Wilson and LB Jordan Brailford were placed on injured reserve. This move allows the team to bring them back during the season if they are healthy and needed. If they had been placed on IR before cutdown day, their seasons would be over like Reuben Foster's.
This leaves the Redskins 53-man roster at 51 players, which will allow them to add two players soon. They can look to their own practice squad or the 31 other practices squads around the league. There is also a number of players still unsigned. They also have a LT named Trent Williams that Bruce Allen insists will play for them this year.
