Tiffany and Nicole caught up with Redskins Rookie defensive tackle, Austin Maloata on this edition of the Riled’Up podcast. Maloata, who is a Samoa and California native, started his journey towards the NFL at the inland empire power house, Corona Centennial. He went on to play PAC-12 football at the University of Oregon before ultimately finishing his college career at Austin Peay State. He’s overcome many obstacles to get to this point in his career and is looking forward to proving himself as a valuable addition to the ‘Skins.

He discussed his rookie game plan and teammates who have taken a special interest in his career development; Temple grad Matt Ioannidis, is among that leadership group.

Maloata shared his insights on the preseason thus far, discussed a little bit about a what he sees as a very competitive linebacker battle, and gives some new insights into Jay Gruden’s approach to the upcoming season.

In addition he shed some light on his thoughts about the team’s prospects under center, and gives a peek behind the curtain for each of the different signal callers in the Burgundy and Gold.
