The Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Award has been given out unofficially by the fans for years to each preseason's most hyped players, but now we've made it official, and will bring it to a vote.
This week's vote will cover the entire offseason leading up to Thursday’s game against the Browns. Place your vote for who you feel has been the most hyped player up to this point, whether the hype is deserved or not.
The Rules:
1. Player must have been drafted late or signed by the Redskins as an undrafted free agent. Players that have only been on other teams practice squads that are signed by the team are also eligible.
2. A player that has been on the team for several years is still eligible if most of that time has been spent on the practice squad, inactive, or with very limited productivity/time
How have past Mason/Brennan winners done in pro football after receiving this glorious award?
The Candidates:
CB Jimmy Moreland
Jimmy "The People's Corner" Moreland has been an absolute hype machine since getting drafted. He has the attitude you want to root for in a late round pick from a smaller school. His hype really took off during OTAs when he was an INT machine. He has even received one of the highest forms of Hype!, he is this year’s Trey Quinn! He continues to be a fan and media favorite and is making it hard to ignore his future on the Redskins.
Haskins, two plays later, taps the ball (burps the baby) before throw. Ball is wobbly and sails. Jimmy Moreland jumps in front of TJ Rahming and picks it off. Morgan Moses again gives chase off sideline. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/RPmFZVb5gM

Jimmy Moreland is gonna be Darrell Green 2.0 #HTTR https://t.co/BIXaTZ47uy

DRC just tried to sub in for Jimmy Moreland. Moreland’s response: “F— that s—.”

Heard high 4.3-low 4.4 for Jimmy Moreland at the James Madison pro day today. Wasn't a combine invite, but a really promising CB who could go top 100.

The People’s Corner strikes. Jimmy Moreland tips a pass away from Cam Sims for his fifth pick of the spring.

ILB Josh Harvey-Clemons
Harvey-Clemons has been on this ballot for the last two seasons, and he’s not going anywhere...yet. We were ready to drop him until the amazing news came out that he gained weight this year (240 lbs!). This...changes...everything!
Remember this from two years ago?

TE Donald Parham
We should just go ahead and cut Vernon Davis’ overpriced ass right now, we got Donald Parham! Welcome to the offseason hype machine; it's working its magic with the latest big tight end who literally catches everything.
"He has the potential to be great": The amazing story of the Redskins unknown 6-foot-8 tight end with a 7-foot wingspan who catches everything and is literally a head above the other players....

WR Kelvin Harmon
There were many a fanboard/blog/facebook group/reddit page that were wondering why the hell Kelvin Harmon was dropping as far as he did in the draft, and when the hell their team was going to end his slide. The Redskins got that steal, and he has carried that hype throughout the offseason. The Redskins were not good at WR last year, so if you have two hands and can catch a ball you might show up on this list.
FADE! Kelvin Harmon vs Josh Norman
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) August 4, 2019
Dwayne Haskins throws a nice fade ball. Josh Norman has good coverage and gets a hand up but Harmon is too strong, plucking it out of the air. Beautiful. Hope we can get used to this #Redskins pic.twitter.com/dBJGpC7xXJ
HIGHLIGHT PLAY! QB Dwayne Haskins dials up DEEP ball to WR Kelvin Harmon. Kelvin Harmon makes adjustment to the ball and one-hand body catches through contact as he crashes to ground. DB can't believe it. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/4wcXmrJqCI

WR Robert Davis
Davis has been a pleasant surprise. The Redskins own website made it sound like he was not going to be ready for training camp after a bad leg injury (think Teddy Bridgewater bad). But there he was trotting out on the field, looking more jacked than ever with the other measurables that got everyone hyped in the first place.

Robert Davis vs. Adonis Alexander.

Adonis with slow feet then grabs and Robert Davis absolutely leaves him in the dust on a deep corner route. Rough camp for Adonis. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/JpFnvQemVJ
WR Cam Sims
Is Cam Sims the Redskins #1 receiver? Listen to some of that sweet, sweet hype and you will hear some people stating this as a fact. Sims looked good in preseason last year but was cut down early. He’s out here looking like a stud in training camp again, and ready to dominate some 3rd string CBs in preseason. People really want someone to replace Josh Doctson.

Gruden today on Cam Sims. Could Sims replace Doctson by week 1? pic.twitter.com/pmvRllzSoG

WR Steven Sims Jr.
Are we allowed to have two Sims getting hype in camp at the same time? The Redskins had Simmie Cobbs last offseason, so I guess we will allow it again this year. Sims Jr. is having a good camp and catching everything that comes his way. He is going to be an absolute monster in the 4th quarter of the 4th preseason game.
Steven Sims vs Deion Harris
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) August 4, 2019
Sims doesn't get room he wants after first stutter, second stutter has Harris thinking inside route. Sims gets his room outside and a catch on the fade #Redskins pic.twitter.com/q6m1CcLJSi
Steven Sims obliterates Troy Apke on this post route. Sells fly route and Gets him completely turned around on break. Colt McCoy delivers a good ball. Easy. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/DQ0iSjJdZw
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) August 4, 2019
WR Trey Quinn
Trey Quinn has the slot WR position locked up already, and could honestly lock down any other spot he wanted. Trey makes his solo appearance on the 2019 Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Awards this week before he is inducted into the Redskins Preseason Ring of Fame on 8/11/19.
