The Trent Williams holdout saga continues! The roster cutdown deadline has passed and while the Redskins continue to be one of the last teams in the NFL to announce roster cuts, we have a good idea of where we stand right now. Trent Williams remains on the Did not report list, and there are no signs that his hold out will end any time soon.
There was hope among some people that the Redskins would be able to trade Williams to the Texans who a missing both their left tackle and a general manager. Somehow the completely inept Miami Dolphins organization was able to come out of this looking semi-competent compared to Houston.
The Texans will reportedly send two 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick, and several players to the Dolphins in exchange for LT Laremy Tunsil and WR Kenny Stills. There were reports that the Texans had been in contact with the Redskins about possibly trading Jadeveon Clowney who was dealt to the Seahawks today. That deal was reportedly dead on arrival because the Redskins were unwilling to trade Trent Williams.
The Redskins have been consistent in their stance that they do not intend to trade Williams, and all reports about Williams say that he is willing to continue this hold out into the season. No end in sight...
