The Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Award has been given out unofficially by the fans for years to each preseason's most hyped players, but now we've made it official, and will bring it to a vote.
This week's vote will cover the hype leading up to and including the first preseason game against the Browns and beyond. Place your vote for who you feel has been the most hyped player up to this point, whether the hype is deserved or not.
The Rules:
1. Player must have been drafted late or signed by the Redskins as an undrafted free agent. Players that have only been on other teams practice squads that are signed by the team are also eligible.
2. A player that has been on the team for several years is still eligible if most of that time has been spent on the practice squad, inactive, or with very limited productivity/time
How have past Mason/Brennan winners done in pro football after receiving this glorious award?
Offseason Mason/Brennan Winner: CB Jimmy Moreland (70%)
Preseason Week 1 Winner: CB Jimmy Moreland (88%)
Preseason Week 2 Winner: CB Robert Davis (39%)
Preseason Week 3 Winner: OLB Cassanova McKinzy (61%)
Preseason is over! The Mason/Brennan Olympics were held last night when the Redskins hosted the Ravens. All your favorites were on display, some shined, and others played their way off this week's list. This is your last chance to vote for these guys before cuts start rolling in.
The Candidates:
S Jeremy Reaves
Jeremy Reaves continues to show up on the field and on a lot of people’s 53-man roster predictions. The desire to knock Troy Apke off the roster is real!
Reaves has made a few nice plays tonight. Seen more out of him at safety than we have from Apke. https://t.co/7OUsDYAcgz
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) August 30, 2019
Safety Jeremy Reaves just came out of absolutely nowhere to make a diving tackle at the first-down marker. A defensive offsides negates the play, but Reaves' speed was very impressive. He's has a real chance to make this roster.

If youre keeping the 4 best safeties, I dont think Apke should make the team. I think Reaves should.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 29, 2019
That said, I dont think it happens that way.
DL Ryan Bee
Bee been getting some low key hype throughout the preseason and he has shined in the 4th quarter. He has snuck on some roster predictions if the Redskins keep a 6th DL due to depth injuries. What really got him on this list? Hearing Chris Cooley praise him on the broadcast last night. Inside info hype!
Up close and personal. Ryan Bee has opened some eyes. One to watch if the Redskins keep six DL. Or PS... pic.twitter.com/K2UpYwBCPN

Redskins ESPN reporter predicts former Marshall defensive lineman Ryan Bee will make Washington’s practice squad, if not the active roster. https://t.co/S9vw1SiKzq

WR Robert Davis
Robbed last week I tell you! Davis was in line to match Jimmy Moreland's back-to-back wins until Cassanova McKinzy took the crown from him.
I have seven. He's the 7th...

DOCTSON
RICHARDSON
QUINN
MCLAURIN
HARMON
LITTLE SIMS
ROBERT DAVIS
I'm fine with either Robert or Cam Sims for the record. Whoever they like more. But one in and one out. I'd keep Robert Davis.
Nice sliding catch by Robert Davis on the back side of play action. Key route in this offense. Runs it well there. Point for 19.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) August 30, 2019
WR Steven Sims, Jr.
My apologizies to Steven Sims Sr, Jr, Mama Sims, and all of Sims Nation. I really meant add him to the list last week after he got some sweet, sweet Gruden hype this week. It didn't happen and he made me remember to give him his spotlight with a highlight reel performance that got praise from Gruden after the game, and invoked the name of the mighty Brandon Banks, Redskins and CFL legend.
Sims almost breaks another kick off return. Flashback to Brandon Banks anyone? His speed is electric.
— Ryan Fowler (@FowlerRyan1) August 30, 2019
Steven Sims Jr shows his 4.3 speed for a HUGE kickoff return. Kid’s making a hell of a case.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) August 30, 2019
Gruden on Steven Sims “he’s a fireball. Every time he gets the ball in his hands it’s exciting.”
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 30, 2019
Haskins finishes off the drive with a TD throw to Sims. Bootleg, throwing on the run. Took the harder throw (had Cam Sims free in the flat), but puts it where only his WR can make the play. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/RZkAUSAwdb

7⃣ was HYPED after that TD #BALvsWAS pic.twitter.com/1SJAV6tOQy

TE J.P. Holtz
When did Mike Alstott change his name and put on a Redskins uniform for a tyrout?
Ravens get a free rusher on an overload rush to the left of the #Redskins OL, but Haskins gets the ball out quickly to Holtz for a first down. Nice throw pic.twitter.com/PKzboERMVm
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) August 30, 2019
End zone angle of that Holtz catch and run. Notice how early Haskins gets the ball out. Handles a low snap flawlessly, gets back into rhythm and ball is out on time to hit Holtz before rush arrives pic.twitter.com/ouOAMHyV0z
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) August 30, 2019
JP Holtz picked up at least 10 of those 24 yards after the catch. Rumble and bumbling to the red zone. And then Dwayne Haskins had the pick of his poisons on that roll out. Could've gone to Cam Sims or Steven Sims. Picked the latter for the 7-yard touchdown #HTTR

J.P. Holtz just recorded more YAC than the Redskins' receiving core did altogether in 2018*

(May not be true)
RB Craig Reynolds
Craig Reynolds is still looking better than Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall to some fans and analysts!
Truth be told, I like Craig Reynolds over both of the other two guys (Perine/Marshall) and I’m not entirely convinced he’s not going to make it over them. He’s a better special teams player and might be just as good as a running back.
Hoping Craig Reynolds Makes This Roster Over Perine

Craig Reynolds looks great in pass pro.
