The Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Award has been given out unofficially by the fans for years to each preseason's most hyped players, but now we've made it official, and will bring it to a vote.
This week's vote will cover the hype leading up to and including the first preseason game against the Browns and beyond. Place your vote for who you feel has been the most hyped player up to this point, whether the hype is deserved or not.
The Rules:
1. Player must have been drafted late or signed by the Redskins as an undrafted free agent. Players that have only been on other teams practice squads that are signed by the team are also eligible.
2. A player that has been on the team for several years is still eligible if most of that time has been spent on the practice squad, inactive, or with very limited productivity/time
How have past Mason/Brennan winners done in pro football after receiving this glorious award?
Offseason Mason/Brennan Winner: CB Jimmy Moreland (70%)
Preseason Week 1 Winner: CB Jimmy Moreland (88%)
The Candidates:
OLB Cassanova McKinzy
Cassanova has arrived, and his hype continues to build as he looks to secure a spot next to Ryan Anderson as a backup OLB. McKinzy has been getting noticed by Redskins coaches, and opposing offenses. This could be the year that the hype meets reality for the former Auburn LB.

Not sure how much playing time #redskins OLB Cassanova McKinzy will see this year, but he sure looks the part. Love his pre-snap looks. Reminds me of Wilbur Marshall. #HTTR pic.twitter.com/DsIYVthmRX

Next play, Bengals go to chip McKinzy again, but McKinzy spots it coming and spins inside the RT #Redskins pic.twitter.com/FXNKzq5Jqn

ILB Josh Harvey-Clemons
Harvey-Clemons has been getting noticed for his improved size and play recently. He is playing more aggressively, and has a chance to make a big impact in a shaky ILB corps.
Josh Harvey Clemons has been all over the place tonight (in a good way)

Josh Harvey-Clemons getting in that running lane and blowing up that play is right in line with the extra work he told me he's put in to be an every down LB. He also said he added weight by using more weights when he trains. You can see the gains paying off #HTTR

S Jeremy Reaves
Jeremy Reaves gets added to the list this week, and his name has been popping up all off/preseason. Redskins fans will always root for a safety to fix the neverending problem at the position.
There's Jeremy Reaves again with a big man tackle #Redskins

Jeremy Reaves keeps making me notice him.

S Jeremy Reaves hits the hole aggressively.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 16, 2019
Jeremy Reaves finished with a 90.1 overall grade last week and is one guy I really want to watch more of tonight because of plays like this #HTTR pic.twitter.com/F8CHxyuLP2

WR Kelvin Harmon
The Kelvin Harmon love affair is in full bloom. Harmon put on a show last Thursday, playing aggressive and testing the leagues referees. Jay Gruden loved his play and doesn’t want Harmon to change his style. This will make the eventual Josh Doctson release much easier to deal with.

Kelvin Harmon just made an ABSURD catch. pic.twitter.com/lU4tYcYsZ8

Kelvin Harmon impressed the hell out of me by getting called for two offensive pass interference penalties
— Hogs Haven (@HogsHaven) August 19, 2019
Let’s look at Harmon’s plays versus Cincinnati, and consider what the WR unit is likely to look like for the regular season.#FireBruceAllen https://t.co/CKoejJxJAE
WR Robert Davis
ROSTER LOCK! If you catch the only two TDs in the preseason, from both of the Redskins 2019 starting QBs you have to be a lock right? Davis is still the best feel good story going for the Redskins this year, and he continues to make catching a football with your face look easy.
Dwayne Haskins' first TD pass of the preseason is a BEAUTY #CINvsWAS pic.twitter.com/vRlB69sP8o

Robert Davis was a crazy compelling prospect when the Skins drafted him out of Georgia State. This is the preseason he was denied last year because of that gruesome leg/knee injury
— Brian McNally (@bmcnally14) August 16, 2019
WR Cam Sims
Cam only had one target and 0 receptions last week. They obviously already know the starting talent/#1 WR they have and didn't want to overuse him in the preseason. Cam is a big factor in the the plan for the replace Josh Doctson crowd.
.@JPFinlayNBCS tells us that the #Redskins have been trying to trade Josh Doctson for the last two years. Says Richardson, Quinn, McLaurin and maybe even Cam Sims are all ahead of him on the depth chart. "It wouldn't shock me if he gets released."
— RosterWatch (@RosterWatch) August 21, 2019
Yep, that blur you see to the right of the clip is WR Cam Sims flying down on special teams to make a tackle! THIS is how you make the team! pic.twitter.com/SR4n9reXSs
— Mark Tyler(Hogs Haven) (@Tiller56) August 16, 2019
WR Darvin Kidsy Jr.
Kidsy had the most receptions on the team for the second week in a row. After his 2 receptions for 5 yards, is he ready to lead the team again tonight?
Pretty sure after preseason game #2 Redskins WR corps gonna be:
— (@bentleyhaskins) August 16, 2019
Paul Richardson
Josh Doctson
Trey Quinn
Terry McLaurin
Kelvin Harmon
Robert Davis
Darvin Kidsy
RB Craig Reynolds
Welcome to the hype! machine Craig Reynolds, the Kutztown Killer! Craig Reynolds continues to get the most carries week after week in the preseason. He also has the highest average on kick returns for the Redskins in the preseason. Can he overcome Jay Gruden’s love for the lackluster Samaje Perine?
Cooley said it would makes sense to keep Craig Reynolds as the RB4, but believes Jay will stick with Samaje Perine.
— Redskins Realm (@SkinsRealm) August 16, 2019
Too bad. RB Craig Reynolds return gets a flag. He's worked hard in camp (as most do). He's pretty fast though - ran a 4.65 40 in the Combine #Redskins
— Diane Chesebrough (@DiChesebrough) August 16, 2019
Craig Reynolds @13_CJR looks a lot better than Perine...Falls forward with quick feet #HTTR #Redskins
