The Daily Twitter will be posted at the beginning of every day (at midnight in Washington, DC). The goal is to give readers a handy spot to check the Redskins beat writers & bloggers, and national sports journalists to keep up on the latest news about the Redskins, the NFL, and sports in general, along with a smattering of other things.

Gruden confirms Josh Woodrum is injured. He tore his pec.

They're working out QB's after practice and could sign someone to take some snaps Thursday. If not, they go with three into Thursday.

Jay Gruden didn’t expect to see Robert Davis back this soon. He thought he’d open camp on PUP
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 10, 2019
I get some of the criticism on Jay Gruden, but I don't get the fuss about how he didn't play starters in game one of preseason. If he does play them, he's lambasted for risking injury. If he doesn't, he doesn't want to win. He's not perfect, but this seems like a no-win scenario.
— Ian Cummings (@ian_cummings_9) August 10, 2019
Gruden on if he feels any different about QB comp from the spring: "I feel the same. I'm hoping somebody takes it over." still figuring out who will start the season.

#Redskins HC Jay Gruden has said the biggest challenge for rookie QB Dwayne Haskins has been the process of getting in and out of the huddle on time and spitting out the play calls. So I charted his time left on the play clock at the break of the huddle and at the snap pic.twitter.com/3MjvFEf8vl

Quinton Dunbar is on the side field. Not sure why. Trey Quinn isn’t practicing. Don’t see him at all.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) August 10, 2019
Would explain why the Skins played so off and soft on that opening drive. Treating it like 2 min drill means Lee everything underneath and in bounds. Unfortunately, they played too off and allowed the Browns to turn checkdowns into first downs https://t.co/XiyBNhSSuV

I saw the same thing. Improved tackling from last year. Still was a step slow reacting in pass coverage. But I see improvement.

— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) August 10, 2019
One thing on Haskins: he feels pressure but I don’t think he sees it. That’s a good thing. On the shot play, DE vs penn rolling at his feet. Good pressure. Haskins never sees. Eyes up whole time. Steps into throw that misses but a good shot play nonetheless. Good trait.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 10, 2019
One OL who jumped out in second half: G Wes Martin. Consistent base. Worked to 2nd level vs the backups. Steadily improved in camp. He and Christian solid together on some runs in third quarter. Wasn’t perfect but a good opening night vs browns backups.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 10, 2019
Also seemed like Haskins and the O breaking huddle earlier in second half and giving him more time at the line. In first a few times to line later and not enough time to process. That said deep comp to Kidzy cams after real late alert call. Good throw of course.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 10, 2019
With Flowers: same as what seen in camp. See the size. When base right etc? Effective. See the inconsistencies; lunge, bend at waist etc. new position. But those issues will stand out more if 71 not at LT.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 10, 2019
I'm always pulled two ways. I know statistically there's literally no correlation with pre-season and regular season records. None. But it doesn't instill confidence to see an OL turnstile, turnovers, and a defense that gives up numerous extended drives. I'd rather look good :) https://t.co/KoZPMWydWS

Couple other notes from rewatching the game: Ereck Flowers could be OKAY at LG. Those two holding calls were a bit tight.
— Steve (@SteveDraft_) August 9, 2019
Darvin Kidsy and Robert Davis both have spectacular athletic profiles and it shows on the field. Coaching staff high on both of those guys.

I wrote up a piece on Flowers last night, notice how he uses the same technique every time, outside hand to outside shoulder of the DT. Worked twice early, then Browns DT #93 worked it out and beat him next two times he went to it

For a long time, the #Redskins safety position looked all but set. Then Jeremy Reaves inserted himself into the discussion with an impressive preseason showing. @RShavatt21 writes on why Reaves makes the safety conversation so interesting:https://t.co/5zfKKohXUH

Anthony Rendon's 25th HR gives him 90 RBI. More importantly, it gives the #Nats a 5-3 lead in the biggest game of their season to this point. What a year he is having.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) August 10, 2019
I do not expecting him to be with #Nats next year. You've got to pay the guy Arenado $$. Don't think they will.
I appreciate the #Nats stance on paying massive, long contracts. They are typically bad business and they will get you in big trouble more often than they help you. I just think sometimes you have to break glass amid emergency. For me, Anthony Rendon is one of those times.

Finals: Mets 7, Nationals 6
— Sam Fortier (@Sam4TR) August 10, 2019
Six times this season the Nationals have carried a tie or lead into the 8th inning against the Mets. Six times the Nationals have lost. Sean Doolittle allowed all four runs. Ballgame.
I told two 9-year-old boys sitting next to me on this plane that they should punch me if I fall asleep and start snoring and now they’re staring at me, wild-eyed and grinning with their little fists balled up.
