Jay Gruden answered questions before the start of Day 7 of training camp practices this morning. He was not a big fans of the fights that have happened over the last two days of camp. Montez Sweat will get two days to recover from getting kicked in thr leg before Saturday's Fan Appreciation Day. And ruden still loves him some Samaje Perine and Colt McCoy.

— Les Carpenter (@Lescarpenter) August 1, 2019
Jay Gruden on Wed's fights (made the OL/DL stop and run sprints. Haven't heard him yell like that before on field): "There's no place for fighting.. Lack of discipline; had to squash it... I like competition; I like effort. Extracurricular fighting, there's no positive at all."
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 1, 2019
Gruden: I'm not a big fan of talkers. Both (lines) were talking too much. #Redskins

— Les Carpenter (@Lescarpenter) August 1, 2019
Colt McCoy:
Gruden says Colt McCoy is "right there" in the QB competition.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) August 1, 2019
Wouldn't surprise me if he starts the first pre-season game if he's healthy. Biggest thing for McCoy, per Gruden, is his health. Still a work in progress.
Gruden said the biggest thing with Colt McCoy is his physical health. Also added McCoy has a great grasp of the offense & has made some "really nice" throws during #SkinsCamp.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 1, 2019
In terms of the QB comp, Gruden said McCoy is "right there."
Wes Martin:
Gruden said G Wes Martin can pull better than they thought... Now a matter of getting used to speed; stunts; adjustments. etc.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 1, 2019
Cole Holcomb:
Gruden says Cole Holcomb has been 'excellent'. Says first one up watching tape at 6 am. Gruden says he "wants to be great; has the tools to be great because he has power, speed and instincts." Me: Have really liked what I've seen from him. Fills hole fast
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 1, 2019
Samaje Perine:
Jay Gruden really loves Samaje Perine
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 1, 2019
When asked about the RB position of AP/Thompson/Guice, he immediately says "you can't discard Samaje Perine. I can't stress that enough."
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) August 1, 2019
He says he's been great not just running, but catching the ball and in protection. Said it all off-season. I'll believe it when I see it.
QB competition:
Gruden says the quarterbacks are all getting equal reps and they are all progressing. no plan yet for next weeks game
— George Wallace (@GWallaceWTOP) August 1, 2019

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie:
Gruden says DRC has been nursing a sore ankle: "He's right in the mix with all those other guys."
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) August 1, 2019
Gruden said that Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been a little hobbled with a sore ankle, but he's right in the mix for nickel corner. He's an older CB, who still has speed #HTTR
