Jay Gruden stood at the podium before Day 3 of Redskins traing camp began this morning. He confirmed they have signed LT Corey Robinson, and shortly after the team announced the signing and also placed Trent Williams on the reserve/did not report list. Gruden has still not talked to Williams. No update on Donald Penn who reportedly stayed overnight in Richmond. The team is reportedly still trying to sign him.
Gruden praised Jordan Reed who has looked great in camp so far. Reed has talked about finally being healthy in the offseason, and it is showing in his performance so far.
Today is the first day the team will practice in pads, but Gruden will continue his policy of not tackling to the ground at training camp. He called it a glorified thud period...

Donald Penn:
Jay Gruden on Penn/Robinson: "No update now on Penn. Corey should practice today; give him a look. Little short at tackle. Catalina is playing tackle; Flowers is playing tackle. Right side is OK... See another body in here; give him a chance."

Josh Norman:
Jay Gruden on Josh Norman in camp: "I think he's been making plays which is exciting."

Jordan Reed:
Gruden on Reed/Thompson: "We're a different team with those two guys in the game."
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) July 27, 2019
"Jordan Reed is a unique player. Not many teams have a guy like that...you can double WR's all you want, but backs are the ones that really create matchups."
Chris Thompson:
Gruden says the Redskins are a different team with Reed and Chris Thompson. "They're two great players to have. We have to keep them healthy obviously."

Pads on today:
Jay Gruden is looking for that "thud" factor along the line when the pads go today. The sights, but the sound of the linemen going at each other today's spot to watch.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) July 27, 2019
Gruden says with pads on today they can evaluate the interior a lot more. Pad level, etc.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) July 27, 2019
It's still a glorified thud period though. Nothing live. Never taking guys to the ground.
Jon Bostic:
Jon Bostic has shown great instincts so far, Gruden said.

Derrius Guice:
Gruden says the Redskins are going to build up Derrius Guice's workload. The 22-year-old was relatively held out of team work yesterday.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) July 27, 2019
Gruden: They're going to work more reps up for Derrius Guice. Doesn't want to overload him early in camp. Had fewer yesterday, which opened up opportunities for Samaje Perine. #Redskins

Geron Christian Sr.:
Gruden said OT Geron Christian will do some individual work today and likely will go through more drills Sunday.
— John Keim (@john_keim) July 27, 2019
Chase Roullier:
Gruden: Geron Christian (knee) should get individual work today after going through walk through yesterday. No team drills. Chase Roullier (shoulder) still out. #Redskins
