Redskins players and coaches held Day 2 of training camp in Richmond, VA yesterday. Jay Gruden spoke to the media, and gave plenty of updates. Day 3 of practices starts today at 9:45am, and ends with a walkthrough at 4:45pm.
There will be updates on position battles, injuriess, pics/videos, quotes, and more from training camp. Check in throughout the day to get all the latest updates on Redskins training camp here.
Today’s sked: 9:45 am practice and 4:40 pm walk-thru. The temps: 80s. Humid! . Also: Donald Penn stayed overnight. Still a chance they sign him.

First padded practice and Gruden very clearly working on the run game. That’s the team he wants.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) July 27, 2019
Haskins’ first play of the day with the first team is an interception. Dunbar with the pick.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) July 27, 2019
To be fair though, he would have been sacked if contact was allowed. #HTTR
Jonathan Allen with a welcome to NFL moment for rookie G Wes Martin. Just blew past him in full team work. Would have sacked Haskins. His deep ball to Cam Sims in excellent spot Tight Coverage. Just off tips.

Individual OL vs DL drill: D-line is winning... Except vs Scherff. #redskins
— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) July 27, 2019
Much heralded because of his communication in the defense, Jon Bostic in 7-7 adjusted coverage with a 3-WR set before the play that ultimately led to what would have been a coverage sack. #SkinsCamp
— Ryan Fowler (@FowlerRyan1) July 27, 2019
Rookie JoJo McIntosh with second INT of the day in 7-7 jumping in front of a curl route by the TE.
— Ryan Fowler (@FowlerRyan1) July 27, 2019
Haskins follows with a lofting back shoulder ball down right sideline that was dropped. #SkinsCamp
Here’s a meaningless breakdown of reps and completions:
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) July 27, 2019
- Haskins (8 snaps, 7-8)
- Keenum (6 snaps, 4-6)
- Woodrum (2 snaps, 1-2, INT)
Haskins and Keenum each had six snaps consecutively and then Haskins got two more reps after Woodrum.
Da’Ron Payne and Brandon Scherff may have had the best rep so far. Payne has worked to bulk up, and you saw it big time as he initially pushed Scherff, and then Scherff found his footing and it looked like to immovable forces in a stalemate. Taps on helmet #HTTR
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) July 27, 2019
In second session of 11-on-11, Daron Payne has asserted himself. Used an up and under on Rookie Wes Martin, then bullrushed fellow Alabama alum Ross Pierschbacher for a would be sack... the play resulted in a breakup by Quinton Dunbar over the middle. #SkinsCamp
— Ryan Fowler (@FowlerRyan1) July 27, 2019
Brandon Scherff just gave Matt Ioannidis a big bear hug as Ioannidis tried to bull his way through Scherff. Conceded some leverage, but once Scherff got to his spot, Ioannidis was battling a wall. The two-time Pro Bowler looks real good, strong and sharp. #HTTR
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) July 27, 2019
McLaurin just toasted Deion Harris deep but Haskins underthrew him. Would’ve been a td, but ball hit Harris in the back. #redskins
— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) July 27, 2019
Fan on sidelines on Haskins rep: “get rid of the ball!” He has handed it off. So she says: “oh he did!” Then doubles down : “Case keeps holding the ball. You got to keep screaming ‘get rid of the ball.’” Yep, training camp.
— John Keim (@john_keim) July 27, 2019
Keenum just threw back to back picks to Quinton Dunbar
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) July 27, 2019
Quinton Dunbar having a day. Three picks in the morning practice. Last two on b2b plays. Jumped an out route toss from Keenum to Davis on third.

Funny moment during media scrums. Dustin Hopkins takes the mic and asks Deshazor Everett, “It’s been said that Dustin Hopkins has much stronger legs than you. Do you have a comment?”

Asked CB Adonis Alexander about who’s stood out to him throughout the offseason & into training camp.
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) July 27, 2019
“Man, I like Terry [McLarin]. Terry definitely.”
“How he comes in and out of his breaks. You look at him coming off the ball, and it looks like he’s running a fly every time.”
“It’s a big difference just having confidence in my body.” Jordan Reed has looked good and healthy. Smooth running routes. #redskins pic.twitter.com/NiG9LJAXzG
— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) July 27, 2019
Brian Quick vs. Quinton Dunbar. Post route. Dunbar too far off. Quick with good cut. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/Fsb2ODHaV0
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Vernon Davis vs. Deshazor Everett. Nice out route. Look at the veteran move to come closer to ball. No chance for Everett #Redskins pic.twitter.com/v6b1whRXPi
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Cam Sims vs Jimmie Moreland. Haskins fires the come back. Sims tries to use body to shield defender but letting ball into body let's Moreland make a play on it. Ball also could have been on him quicker. But that's part of getting timing down. Good play by Moreland #Redskins pic.twitter.com/qsgDSiu1IY
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
2 v 2. Keenum finds Kidsy on out route vs. Off coverage. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/CWiw2VCMUg
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Bad ball by Keenum here (unless wrong route was run) but Robert Davis shakes Adonis Alexander off line. Adonis trails like he's expecting a short route and Davis just takes off and leaves him #Redskins pic.twitter.com/BqyieSghEx
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Jordan Reed vs. Monte Nicholson. Haskins fits this one into Reed. Nicholson has good coverage but Reed boxes him out, shows off the hands and Haskins with a good, leading throw. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/BaxwgiytVJ
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
2 v 2. This Corner/reverse zipper combo is going to be a problem for defenses in man. WSH has run it a ton. Rahming gets held up on his corner route but Haskins finds Quick on reverse zipper #Redskins pic.twitter.com/PaXhh5VmuH
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
2 v 2. Cam Sims and Steven Sims stacked. Deep out with zipper underneath creates high/low read. Keenum hits Steven Sims underneath #Redskins pic.twitter.com/H7zhdkCzWW
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
2 v 2. Kelvin Harmon and Darvin Kidsy vs Josh Norman and Fabian Moreau. Harmon and Kidsy run a fade/out combo. Josh Norman tries to jam but lunges a little too far and Harmon shakes it. Keenum drops it in the bucket to Harmon on the deep fade. Nice. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/0UYHVPwzUu
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
TJ Rahming vs. Jimmie Moreland. Moreland gets a little handsy. Can hear Gruden yell "stop grabbing." Josh Woodrum delivers nice ball on corner route. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/XnVsLCj2Q4
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Jordan Reed vs. Monte Nicholson. Fly route over the top. Reed fights through downfield contact to make a diving catch off a nice Case Keenum throw. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/TwLucMQzBk
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Brian Quick vs. Quinton Dunbar. Physical battle from both. Quick with a good break back to sideline and Keenum delivers a good ball. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/v1xHq701W7
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Josh Doctson vs. Greg Stroman. Great footwork by Doctson towards post to get Stroman to bait inside before breaking off to corner. Another good bucket throw by Keenum #Redskins pic.twitter.com/Bx8lSg6cgm
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Cam Sims vs. Deion Harris. Good coverage by Harris downfield on fly route. Keenum makes a great back shoulder throw and Sims shows off the ability to track the ball and pull in the catch. Beautiful. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/Qx15SI73o6
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Trey Quinn and Terry McLaurin vs Josh Norman and Fabian Moreau. Running the corner/reverse zipper combo. Norman gets a good jam on McLaurin, Trey Quinn got a little separation from Moreau but Keenum thought he'd throw reverse zipper. Late decision to go deep. Trey Quinn and Cam Sims do well helping seal edge. Derrius Guice through hole and gets tripped by Josh Norman. But first real contact and Guice pops right up #Redskins pic.twitter.com/JRSJ8etWlQ
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Good battle here with Jonathan Allen and Ereck Flowers. Nice pull from Zac Kerin. Guice again to the ground but pops up. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/q9jdTfgO4m

Ereck Flowers helps double Jonathan Allen. Byron Marshall picks up blitzing Landon Collins. Haskins throws it late to Trey Quinn and Dunbar picks it off, returning it for TD #Redskins pic.twitter.com/4dmsIpMrQW

— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Play action BOMB from Haskins to Cam Sims. Fabian Moreau in great position, ball just outside Sims reach but good ball. Jonathan Allen makes Wes Martin look silly off snap. Flowers notices Sweat isn't rushing and gets hands on Allen. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/yGswkeh1tm

3rd and 10. Haskins fires a 20 yard deep in route to Jehu Chesson. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/Gv2lZeBymK
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Case Keenum with short out route to Doctson. You see left side of line collapsing. Flowers opened up outside but no one came from there so a little late coming inside to help. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/Sl0x0lsI9o
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Case Keenum with nice ball placement on corner route to McLaurin in front of Josh Norman. Just outside his reach though. Flowers held up well vs. Allen on left. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/OzdLrTlXIl
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Keenum throw behind Richardson broken up by Dunbar. Throw was behind because DaRon Payne destroyed C Bergstrom and was in Case Face. Sack if live. R. Anderson dropped in coverage so Martin/Flowers could double Allen. Nicholson mad he gave away his blitz early. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/KYm7F5JDFQ
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Case Keenum hits Jeremy Sprinkle on drag route. PLEASE watch Casanova McKinzy (58) from left side. He's running stunt inside so Hamilton can blitz outside. But McKinzy times snap so well and is so fast, he beats Moses inside. Moses can't even pass him off cuz he's already beaten pic.twitter.com/IHKisHI2S3
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Next play, Casanova McKinzy beats Timon Parris (61) inside. Keenum hits Kidsy on drag but would have been sacked #Redskins pic.twitter.com/ENusMFstBC
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Next play after that, Keenum gets this pass off to Derrius Guice but they choose to leave Casanova McKinzy unblocked. Look at the speed. If he could full out push Keenum, I think it alters the play. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/f7PNqmnUoo
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
They try to block Montez Sweat (right side) with a TE (Holtz). Sweat JACKS him up and shows acceleration. This is a sack. But good throw to Jordan Reed. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/zjtDXuhpon
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Nice get off and bend by Ryan Anderson from left side to ruin the play. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/piidmn8VPM
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Not a smart throw to make in a game, but Haskins is probably sacked three times before he releases this ball as the OL just fell apart. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/ICFhdV7EXh

Flowers with a good rep vs. Ryan Anderson on left but DaRon Payne destroys Tony Bergstrom again. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/r09V24nudv

Throw a little too far for Trey Quinn but Flowers does a good job riding Kerrigan inside and seeing late edge blitz and picking it up. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/McXiraNDRW
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
Such a good route by Jordan Reed. Subtle movement gets Troy Apke to go inside before Reed breaks outside. Keenum with a well timed pass. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/FR24xIX9JD
— Paul Conner (@P_ConnerJr) July 27, 2019
