Jay Gruden answered questions this morning bfoe the Redskins take the field for Day 2 of training camp. He was asked about reports that the team will work out LT Donald Penn. Gruden said the team needs to sign a tackle with Trent Williams holding out, and Geron Christian Sr. being held out of practice.
He also said Chase Roullier will be held out of practice after looking like he needed more time during his conditioning test on Wednesday.
Gruden talked about Landon Collins, and the idea that he is simply a box safety. He praised the rookie WRs, and discussed what CB Jimmy Moreland needs to do get playing time. Gruden also made it clear that he doesn't feel pressure to start Dwayne Haskins Week 1, and the QB competition is on.

Asked about bringing in a veteran tackle to play the Ty Nsekhe role, Jay Gruden said “I hope so.” Adds that much will depend on Geron Christian’s health and development

Even if the Redskins don't sign Donald Penn today Gruden does anticipate the team signing a veteran tackle in camp.

Landon Collins:
Gruden on Collins being a box safety: "I don't think that label is necessarily true." He says they put Collins at the post on a few reps yesterday and he did a good job

They love him in the box, but if he can show that kind of range they might use him more over the top.
Jimmy Moreland:
Gruden says the biggest thing with Jimmy Moreland is his proving his physicality. "If you can't tackle, you can't play."

Dwayne Haskins:

Shaun Dion-Hamilton/Jon Bostic:
Gruden says that Bostic and SDH are going to switch calling signals, so it's not a lock that it'll stay the way it was yesterday.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) July 26, 2019
He says the difference in Mike and Mo (the two ILB spots) is really just calling the defense. "Assignment and alignment" stuff.

Gruden mentioned the blocking ability of the rookie WRs (McLaurin/Harmon). One thing i noticed yesterday: Both would get excellent positioning with feet/hands to maintain leverage. No pads, so take FWIW. But looked good.
