When Redskins Fans Have Been Down-and-Out for This Long, Desperation Kicks in

NFL: Denver Broncos at Washington Redskins Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

How dare Trent Williams hold out of mandatory OTA’s! Trade him!

Brandon Scherff and the Redskins are “not close” on a long-term deal...TRADE HIM TOO!

Derrius Guice “tweaked” a hamstring recently. Oh well, he’s injury prone and he’ll never be much of anything for the Redskins. Hell, we should have all seen this coming as all these teams passed on him, some more than once, in the 2018 NFL Draft. Redskins were stupid to draft him in round two!

Retain our top receiver for the past three seasons?...no! Why should we when we can get a 2020 comp pick if he leaves.

We severely over-paid for Landon Collins. Jeez, even his 2020 Madden rating shows he’s not that good!

Watch...Josh Doctson will have the best year of his career now that he has a quarterback who’s not afraid to throw him the football. And maybe we’ll get a 2020 comp pick for him after he signs for big money elsewhere!

We hired two coaches from the unemployment line - they can’t be any good! We went through this in the past when we hired an OC from a Bingo Hall!

Alex Smith’s injury may have been a blessing in disguise for this team.

WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS!

These are some of the types of comments I have been seeing lately, and I have to pass them off as simply the “doom-and-gloom” attitude.

And can you really blame the fan-base?

The team has been one of the league’s laughing stocks since Dan Snyder bought them, and each yeah that laughter seems to get louder and louder. Now, I simply think many fans have gotten to the breaking point, and either don’t care, or don’t want to care.

The emotional investment they have put in for years has finally taken its toll...

The local and national media only seems to stir the pot. Don’t get me wrong, there are still many on the national scene who are unbiased towards the team with the “racist” name, but many purposely leave deserving Redskins players off Top 10 lists, and take any chance they get to negatively bash the team.

Just recently, Ryan Kerrigan was left off a list complied by a national outlet of the top 10 pass rushers in the NFL. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who takes the time to just look at his game over the last 5 seasons will see it compares very favorably to Von Miller and Kahlil Mack’s in terms of sacks, tackles for loss and quarterback hits. To leave him off this list is just pure irresponsible.

The local media is just as much to blame - yeah, I’m looking right at you Chris Russell!...yet he’s far from the only one.

The Redskins get no respect from those outside Redskins Nation...and this is really not a surprise considering some people refer to them as the team from Washington, but to see this sort of disdain from our very own fan base is really sad.

Now let me just say, this doom-and-gloom attitude is NOT from everyone. There are still MANY die hard fans out there who love and believe in their team. It just seems the frustration is growing louder as the summer wears on.

Maybe a great training camp will lift the spirits of many in our fans base. Maybe just a HEALTHY training camp will do wonders!

Can hope be just around the corner? Many of us used to think so, but like the old saying goes: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. And for Redskins fans, fool me 50 times, I turn my back on you...

Don’t be that fan.
