Jay Gruden spoke with the media today after the Redskins OTAs practice. The big story is obviously LB Reuben Foster being carted off the field after the 3rd play of practice. Gruden said that Foster will be getting an MRI on his injured leg.

“He wouldn’t be laying down unless something is wrong...very concerning for sure.”
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) May 20, 2019
Gruden cuts his answer short saying he doesn’t want to get emotional until they know for sure what happened.
Gruden on Foster injury : “it’s very concerning for sure. We will have to wait and see before I get too emotional about it.”
— Les Carpenter (@Lescarpenter) May 20, 2019
Gruden said Reuben Foster was “devastated” as he laid on the field and waited for the cart.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) May 20, 2019
Asked how this happens on a team with so many injuries, “I don’t know how to process it” Gruden. “This one here takes the cake. It was a non-contact drill.”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) May 20, 2019
Montae Nicholson:
Gruden says they haven’t heard from the league on Monte Nicholson. He expects Nicholson to be a part of the team.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) May 20, 2019
Additionally Gruden says that Nicholson is not here by Nicholson’s choice. Not injury. Not team dictated. Obviously wishes he was here, but it’s voluntary and there’s nothing he can do.

Injury updates:
Gruden said he expects Landon Collins ready for training camp. Colt McCoy as well as D Guice
— George Wallace (@GWallaceWTOP) May 20, 2019
Gruden says Dunbar is running “full speed,” but they’re being cautious. Landon Collins rehabbing should be back for training camp. Paul Richardson might be back before camp.

Voluntary OTAs:

Very funny end to a very somber press conference.

Reuben Foster injury:
Jon Allen to the podium. He says he’s waiting for the results before having any real reaction.

Every Allen answer is straight forward, matter of fact and Nick Saban approved. It’s wild how consistent he is.
Talk shit and compete:
Q: “How do you make people uncomfortable on the field?”
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) May 20, 2019
Allen: “Talk shit and compete.”
Jonathan Allen says the way this defense will get better is making each other uncomfortable every day.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) May 20, 2019
How do they do that?
“Talk shit and compete,” Allen said.
