The Daily Twitter will be posted at the beginning of every day (at midnight in Washington, DC). The goal is to give readers a handy spot to check the Redskins beat writers & bloggers, and national sports journalists to keep up on the latest news about the Redskins, the NFL, and sports in general, along with a sprinkling of other stuff.

-Jay Gruden #Redskins
On paper, Redskins are having a smart draft. It feels like with after Haskins fell to them, Dan and Bruce were content to get out the way and let Doug, Eric Schaffer, Kyle Smith and staff do their jobs.
— Mike Jones (@ByMikeJones) April 27, 2019
The Redskins seem to have shown some discipline with their draft. Didn't trade up for Haskins; made some seemingly smart picks throughout. Took a guy who could pay off in a big way (Love). If they trusted the board of Kyle Smith and his scouts, that was wise.
— John Keim (@john_keim) April 27, 2019
Here is your 2019 #Redskins draft class:
— PFF WAS Redskins (@PFF_Redskins) April 27, 2019
1(15) QB Dwayne Haskins
1(26) ED Montez Sweat
3(76) WR Terry McLaurin
4(112) RB Bryce Love
4(131) G Wes Martin
5(153) C Ross Pierschbacher
5(173) LB Cole Holcomb
6(206) WR Kelvin Harmon
7(227) CB Jimmy Moreland
7(253) ED Jordan Brailford
I'd be calling Tre Boston, if I'm the Redskins https://t.co/2KldOrVmTG

Just an opinion on the #Redskins draft overall:
— Chris Russell (@Russellmania621) April 27, 2019
I think it's a good draft on paper. Obviously, no idea how it will turn out short & long-term.
Of course, it will largely depend on Dwayne Haskins. Is he okay? Very good? Special?
However, I like depth adds on OL, WR, RB.
The Redskins did not draft another free safety. Need someone to pair with Landon Collins... Still have Montae Nicholson, though waiting to see if any suspension from December incident. Also Troy Apke.
— John Keim (@john_keim) April 27, 2019
Gruden says they’ll probably bring in some college FA’s at FS. Right now they think Nicholson is the starter but they’ve gotta see where he’s at come August.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) April 27, 2019
Terry McLaurin will be a 24 year old rookie. Sheesh.
— Steve (@SteveDraft_) April 27, 2019
Redskins fans are going to love Wes Martin. Kid works as hard as anyone and is an absolute beast in the trenches. You got a good one Washington https://t.co/FzTgmqilhC
— Ben Portnoy (@bportnoy15) April 27, 2019
Hopefully CFB and the NFL can create an opportunity for players who get bad advice to return to CFB.
— Ryan C. Fowler (@RyanCFowler) April 27, 2019
Hard to see these young men who work their butt off for many years only to get sold a bag of fools gold. https://t.co/4wb4OSl01h
Saban took major criticism a few weeks ago, but his message was loud and on point because he understands what is truly happening to these young men in vulnerable spots.
— Ryan C. Fowler (@RyanCFowler) April 27, 2019
Gruden also said that RB Derrius Guice is ahead of schedule. At one point they were thinking he'd be ready for training camp. Now Gruden says it could be sooner.
— John Keim (@john_keim) April 27, 2019

Kelvin Harmon fell to #Redskins at 206. Talked about him last week. Just couldn't find any strong support for him from scouting or analytics standpoint. And I think a lot of teams are down on big WRs in general. https://t.co/QCzkCr7F9c
— Evan Silva (@evansilva) April 27, 2019
Gruden said QB Colt McCoy is still in Texas after 3rd surgery (minor one). Had an issue; went back in to get it checked out. "something popped up in there they weren't expecting," Gruden said. Not major, but will take time to heal. Colt should be back here next week.

SEC led all conferences in draft picks for the 13th straight year. There were 64 selections out of the SEC this year, most by a conference in the Common Draft Era.

NFL draft ends with no #Hokies picked for the first time since 1993. #UVA's Tim Harris and ODU's Travis Fulgham join teammates picked Friday. https://t.co/bYaQctRgzK

I don’t think #Redskins fans are gonna like @LanceZierlein’s player comp for new guard Wes Martin pic.twitter.com/6UgEvRyxs8
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) April 27, 2019
Wes Martin was one of my favorite guards I studied this year. I couldn't find as many teams to get on board with me as I wanted, but he is very strong and is well-schooled and his game is an NFL starter's game. He just needs to keep working but he has the size, strength and grind https://t.co/TTX5FtWF21
— Lance Zierlein (@LanceZierlein) April 28, 2019
Both could win it, but I think Martin will be the one who impresses more. I was really impressed by your assistant OL coach when I watched him working with players at the East/West Shrine game. Got guys coached up during that week. They really responded.
— Lance Zierlein (@LanceZierlein) April 28, 2019
Is this like picking Troy Apke last year in the 4th round?
— Dave Butz’s Helmet (@jayjaywalden) April 27, 2019
Straight out of central casting for an NFL guard. Milking cows should be part of their Combine routine. https://t.co/cLkTpFFMUj
— Brian McNally (@bmcnally14) April 27, 2019
Jason LaCanfora: I read a lot of draft guides that didn't even list OG Wes Martin but I talked to teams who love him in mid rounds like the #Redskins. They think he's super safe, super versatile and I think he'll play sooner than later.https://t.co/xU3jWF57BN

While everyone is getting hyped for Kelvin Harmon, I'm currently studying Terry McLaurin and I kinda love him. Routes are on point
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) April 27, 2019
I dunno about that yet. It's (very) early. But I LOVED Trey Quinn this time last year and felt he'd contribute. Feel more confident about McLaurin than I did about Quinn. https://t.co/sDT6EMd8eY
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) April 28, 2019
3rd and 6 here, McLaurin in the slot to the right on a hitch. Stutter step release, CB stumbles but does well to stay with him. Works back tot he throw to make catch, then fights hard to reach out for the first down marker, just manages to get it. Moves the chains pic.twitter.com/uhagjG91G3
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) April 28, 2019
This is the kind of route I think McLaurin would excel at given more opportunities. Isolated to the left, runs a basic cross but detail of the route is great. Releases inside to the top of the numbers, then widens with hard step before break inside. Tons of YAC potential here pic.twitter.com/CqZprCFHsZ
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) April 28, 2019
Just wait until i step on that field, swear they’re going to feel me week in & week out
— Kelvin Harmon (@Wide_Receiver3) April 27, 2019
Can't believe we got Kelvin Harmon this late. This is on par with the Tim Settle pick last year, imo.
— Robbie Duncan (@RobbieDuncanOL) April 27, 2019

What do we think, Skins fans? https://t.co/Lt50TX8MBd
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) April 27, 2019
Interesting stat line I just saw on NFL Network for Jimmy Moreland. Had 6 pick-sixes in his career at JMU.
— Robbie Duncan (@RobbieDuncanOL) April 27, 2019
#Redskins 5th round Alabama pick Ross Pierschbacher said the skins worked him out at LG even though he can play both LG and C. Side note: He’s from Iowa and said Brandon Scherff was his recruiting host at Iowa when he went on his recruiting trip.
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) April 27, 2019
#Redskins needed to really focus on offense. Like the thought process. Let’s not crown them yet because it’s not like they figured out how to get drafts right overnight. But this draft, on paper, is making a ton of sense.
— manny benton (@manny_benton) April 27, 2019
Just looking into Terry McLaurin. Just from an athletic profile stand point, here's his combine measurables compared to former #Redskins WR Pierre Garcon pic.twitter.com/U1jjetQhwV
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) April 27, 2019
A cute little nugget....Terry McLaurin ran the same EXACT 40 time as DeSean Jackson and he’s 3 inches taller.
— Sean (@FlSkinsFan4Life) April 27, 2019
Hey, @Redskins fans.

Pete Carroll says DK Metcalf came into the interview with them shirtless. Seriously. A scout talked him into it.
— Dugar, Michael-Shawn (@MikeDugar) April 27, 2019
Carroll jokes that he was shocked, then pissed off — so he took his shirt off, too. Quite the visuals going right now.
Listen to this entitled brat who all he does is whine and complain and want things handed to him.....or does this just sounds like a guy who’s incredibly mature & has had some bad situations thrown his way in his profession?!? ♂️ I HOPE THIS DUDE LIGHTS THE LEAGUE UP! Well done https://t.co/2CLSNVF08q

Spoke to my friend whose a #Redskins Scout on their draft.

‘There’s a serious quality evaluator here in Kyle Smith. He’s actually collaborative. Doug (Williams) & Bruce (Allen) trust him and he set the Board / approach.’
Everyone as far as I know respects and very much likes Kyle Smith. He's a human being, who happens to do his job well. https://t.co/g3qcFW8tXs
— Chris Russell (@Russellmania621) April 28, 2019
The team in the 15 slot landing this draft class is absolutely bonkers https://t.co/MikgGeJ1DC
— Brad Kelly (@BradKelly17) April 28, 2019
According to our draft board, Quincy Williams being selected by the Jacksonville #Jaguars was the biggest reach of the draft. It was a pick differential of -131.00.
— Pro Football Network (@PFN365) April 28, 2019
The best value in the draft goes to the Washington #Redskins when they selected WR Kelvin Harmon. Pick diff - +178
In no particular order, here are the teams i really thought stood out the past three days;
— Tony Pauline (@TonyPauline) April 28, 2019
Buffalo Bills
Denver Broncos
New England Patriots
Oakland Raiders
Philadelphia Eagles
Pittsburgh Steelers
Washington Redskins
Miami Dolphins ( adding in Rosen)
QB ✅
— Redskins Realm (@SkinsRealm) April 27, 2019
WR’s ✅
Edge Rusher ✅
Guard/O-line depth ✅
Explosive surprise pick ✅
Redskins 2019 draft = A+
Gruden says at the OSU Pro Day that Paris Campbell went down early and McLaurin stepped right up and ran extra routes. That kind of little thing is an example of what kind of guy he is.

2020 picks traded during this draft
— Eric Edholm (@Eric_Edholm) April 28, 2019
* Redskins second-rounder to Indy
* Chiefs second-rounder (less favorable of 49ers, Chiefs picks) to Seattle
* Saints second-rounder to Miami
* Steelers third-rounder to Denver
* Bears fourth-rounder to New England
did I miss any?
Stephen Jones also says the Cowboys do believe Connor Williams is capable of playing right tackle, although he notes they’d love to keep La’el Collins if they can.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) April 27, 2019
purely my opinion: I think it’s very doubtful they can afford to do so. All the more reason to draft McGovern.
Just looked at my calendar for tomorrow and noticed "AAF Championship Game." I guess I can remove that item.
