The New York Giants made it official and selected Duke QB Daniel Jones with the #6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Jones is the second QB off the board tonight, with Kyler Murray going #1 overall to the Arizona Cardinals. Both of these moves potentially will have a big impact on the Redsking going forward.
The Giants have drafted their replacement for Eli Manning after passing on much better players last year when they had the #2 overall pick. GM David Gettleman had better hope he made the right call with Saquon Barkley last season, or it could go down as one of the biggest missed opportunities in a while. The Giants have been linked to Daniel Jones for a while, and it’s not a surprise they took him in the 1st round. There was speculation that Giants could wait until their 2nd first round pick, but there were plenty of rumors about the Redskins trading up for a QB to motivate them to get their guy early.
The Josh Rosen situation could have a huge impact right away. The Cardinals want a 1st round pick this year, but unless a team like the Patriots gives it up, they will be out of luck. The Redskins are one of a handful of teams linked to Rosen, and it is reported they will be trying to get last year’s #10 pick for a discount.
