The Redskins were reportedly one of the teams that was making a push to sign Baltimore Ravens LB C.J. Mosley. Washington was interested even after securing a 6 year, $84 million deal with Giants safety Landon Collins.
The price for Mosley was expected to be steep, especially after Kwon Alexander got a 4 year, $54 million contract from the 49ers. Mosley has reportedly topped that deal and will be signing a 5 year, $85 million deal with the New York Jets. The Redskins weren't beating that deal.
It was also reported yesterday that the Redskins were trying to trade both Zach Brown and Mason Foster as they pursued Mosley. Neither of them has been dealt yet, but the need at ILB likely remains as free agency starts tomorrow. Washington picked up Reuben Foster last year, but he is still on the NFL Commissioner's Exempt List, and waits to see if he will be suspended to start the season.
Sources: Former #Ravens LB CJ Mosley is expected to sign with the #Jets on a massive 5-year, $85M deal worth $51M guaranteed. That’s $17M per year. It took a lot to leave Baltimore.
