The Washington Redskins were expected to be in the market for a safety this offseason, and there are a lot of good options available. Landon Collins is a player many Redskins fans wanted to draft in 2015, but the New York Giants traded up to the top of the 2nd round to grab him. The Redskins drafted OLB Preston Smith that year, who is set to be a top free agent this year.
Adam Schefter says that the Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts are most interested in signing Collins. As JP Finlay points out, the Colts are coming into this offseason loaded with over $100 million in cap space, and can easily outbid the Redskins who are currently at around $13 million.
If the Skins and Colts are most interested for Landon Collins, as @AdamSchefter said, that’s bad news for Washington. Indy has $100M+ to spend. Skins have $13M.

The Redskins have a big hole at safety, again, this year. They had D.J. Swearinger for (most) of the last two seasons. He was released last year for continually bashing the team to the media, and finally calling out Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky. Washington also traded a 4th round pick to the Green Bay Packers for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, but it took him a while to get adjusted to the defense, and he is a free agent this week. The Redskins also lost Montae Nicholson when he was arrested for getting into drunken brawl in the streets, and was shut down for the season.
