The Redskins held a brief team meeting led by interim Head Coach Bill Callahan this morning. Players then went to the locker room to clear their stuff out and speak to reporters for the last time before departing for the offseason. There was plenty to talk about with Bruce Allen being fired this morning, the news of Ron Rivera interviewing for the Head Coaching job, and what happens with the team now.
Colt McCoy:
Colt McCoy’s licker is completely empty. Took his name plate and everything. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie’s is the same.

Ron Rivera:
Kerrigan on Ron Rivera: “Those Panthers teams were tough and physical.”
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 30, 2019
He says defensively “we dropped the ball this year.” Doesn’t wanna say much more on Rivera until it’s official.
Extension:
Ryan Kerrigan says he wants to be around. Has made it clear to his agent. My understanding is that there had been initial talks on an extension earlier this year. Has one year left on deal.
— John Keim (@john_keim) December 30, 2019
Ryan Kerrigan says he’s told his agent to work to keep him with the Redskins. “I want to be here - through the good and the bad. I love Washington DC.”
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) December 30, 2019
Trent Williams:
Trent’s locker is the same it has been. He’s not coming back unless he’s COMING BACK, which is a down the road discussion. https://t.co/Iq8Vwgmppg
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 30, 2019
Case Keenum:
More Keenum: "I'm pointing the finger at myself. I need to get better, there's certain things I need to do better from a quarterback standpoint, from a leadership standpoint. I'll be better, and we'll move forward."
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 30, 2019
He is a free agent after his one year in Washington.
Tress Way:
Tress Way: Bruce was the one that gave me a shot. I’m grateful to him. As for the questions or not the pieces are here! Thats a no brainer. We just need to get over the hump. #httr #redskins @NBCSWashington

Dwayne Haskins Jr.:
Kevin O'Connell:
Dwayne Haskins says he hopes Kevin O’Connell stays. Has enjoyed working with him.
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) December 30, 2019
Dwayne Haskins just spoke in the locker room. He was very straight forward when it comes to O’Connell: he wants him to stay. He learned a lot from him and really enjoyed the relationship they developed.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 30, 2019
Chase Young:
Dwayne Haskins says change can be good. But says he want Kevin O’Connell to stay. Says they were on the same page. Anticipated calls because felt like he knew what KOC was thinking. Also called Chase Young a “game wrecker”
— John Keim (@john_keim) December 30, 2019
Asked about the 2nd overall pick - Dwayne Haskins, “two words is all I got to say, Chase Young.”

— Stephen Whyno (@SWhyno) December 30, 2019
Josh Norman:
Better:
Josh Norman came in and reporters surrounded him at his stall. Not ready to talk yet, he turned on a speaker in his locker and made his way out of the scrum. Now we're being serenaded with "Better" by Khalid. It's a good quality speaker.
— Adam Zielonka (@Adam_Zielonka) December 30, 2019
Josh Norman came into the locker room, left a portable stereo at his locker playing “Better,” then told reporters, “I’ll just leave this here for you.”
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) December 30, 2019
Josh Norman just rolled in. He laughed at the big scrum of reporters and then put on some music. Kind of appreciate it. pic.twitter.com/2jO6A0Gl9v
— Brian McNally (@bmcnally14) December 30, 2019
Ron Rivera:
Norman fields some questions. Is reluctant to talk about Ron Rivera since nothing is done, but says he gets the best out of players, on and off the field.
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) December 30, 2019
Josh Norman just wrapped his season ending session. He says he would be excited to play for Ron Rivera if they keep him, but that’s not guaranteed.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 30, 2019
Norman also says Rivera is clearly the best man for the job.
Norman says Rivera gets the best out of players, not just as players but as men. Same for Steve Wilkes. Josh declined to say whether or not he’s spoken to RR in the last 24 hours.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 30, 2019
Josh Norman says IF Ron Rivera is hired there will be a “night and day” difference in the culture. Says he’d be excited to be part of it. Says no guarantee he stays just because it would be a Rivera/Wilks pairing. He obviously had success with them in Carolina.
— John Keim (@john_keim) December 30, 2019
Josh Norman on why Ron Rivera why thrives as a coach: "He gets the most out of players."
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) December 30, 2019
More here on his former and maybe next head coach. pic.twitter.com/YfekHIpIwf
Josh Norman tamped down speculation he was coming back just because Ron Rivera and possibly his former D-coordinator Steve Wilks could be here. Says it doesn’t really work that way.

— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 30, 2019
Mentoring young players:
“I’ve been trying to be a calming influence on (young guys) them and help them get better. I remember being young and when there was a lot of turnover. I tried to help them ignore a lot of the noise” #httr #redskins @NBCSRedskins pic.twitter.com/DNyLGlC7Hi

— Julie Donaldson (@JDonaldsonNBCS) December 30, 2019
It’s also important to point out that Alex Smith said there was no competition between he and Dwayne Haskins. Said that narrative is false.
