Dwayne Haskins Jr. has looked pretty good the last few weeks. He has shown improvement every week, and looks more comfortable running the offense. Mistakes have been down and he was having the best game of his short NFL career yesterday.
That day ended early when he went down with an ankle injury. Haskins limped to the sidelines and was carted to the back to get checked. Haskins didn't return to the game. He told reporters after the game he wanted to go back in, but the team doctor didn't clear him, and owner Dan Snyder told him to listen to them.
“I evaluated Dwayne following his ankle injury and after reviewing the X-Rays and conducting a full examination, I did not clear him to return to game action,” said Redskins team physician, Dr. Robin West.
Ian Rapoport is reporting that the early analysis shows Haskins has a high-ankle sprain. He will get an MRI today, and will likely be ruled out for next weeks game. Haskins obviously wants to play against the Cowboys in the season finale, but that's unlikely to happen now. If Haskins is shut down, Case Keenum returns as the starter, and Colt McCoy is the backup probably for the last time.
Players usually miss at least a week with high ankle sprain. No reason for Dwayne to push it. Last two weeks have been more than enough for Skins to know he’s the guy for 2020 https://t.co/GfPFvGTgjz
