Redskins interim Head Coach Bill Callahan and Offensive Coordinator Kevin O’Connell spoke to the media after practice today. Callahan said that Quinton Dunbar is out, Fabian Moreau is a game time decision, and Landon Collins will play vs the Giants. Geron Christian Sr. will not get his audition for the tackle spot barring an injury to Donald Penn or Morgan Moses. O’Connell praised Dwayne Haskins for his performance last week.

Injury updates:
Landon Collins will play this Sunday vs Giants. Quinton Dunbar will not. Fabian Moreau is game time decision.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) December 20, 2019
Callahan time.

Dunbar OUT Sunday. Moreau doubtful. More corners out, which adds even more awkward into the Josh Norman situation.
Collins should be fine.
Saquon Barkley:
Callahan on Saquon Barkley: He has great eyes and he sees the field. He also makes cuts that you wouldn't normally expect. #Redskins #HTTR

#Redskins coach Bill Callahan on Saquon Barkley:
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) December 20, 2019
“He makes the types of cuts that you wouldn’t see a running back make, which makes him special.”
Geron Christian Sr.:
Callahan is asked if they’ve seen enough from Geron Christian about possibly starting next year at left tackle. His answer was pretty interesting, basically said no. No plan to sit Donald Penn or Morgan Moses either down the stretch to get a better look

Backup DBs:
Callahan says basically all the new guys have worked at CB and S. Johnson is a smaller guy. They’ve got Colvin, too. All those guys are practicing inside and outside. Lots of options.

Dwayne Haskins Jr.:
KOC says that not having Terry in the first Giants game was a huge loss. The growth Dwayne has made is huge, but it’s growth made with the other young guys.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 20, 2019
He says the menu of plays is a lot larger. Helps the offense a ton.
OC Kevin O'Connell up at the podium.
— Zach Selby (@DarDarBinx61) December 20, 2019
He opened up by saying he felt the offense had a good mix of using quicker and longer throws against the Eagles. The point is to get Haskins into a rhythm early, which worked well last Sunday. #Redskins #HTTR
O’Connell said Haskins is starting to understand why the offense works and why it goes different directions. That’s a huge step to understanding the offense.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) December 20, 2019
O'Connell agreed with Callahan's statement earlier this week that Haskins is "light years" ahead of where he was in the first Giants game. The play call selection has "certainly gotten larger" since then and he's confident in Haskins' control of the offense. #Redskins #HTTR

O'Connell time
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) December 20, 2019
On Haskins' progression. Such a difference between the first appearance in relief against NYG vs. where the QB is now. So many differences including practice reps this week (effectively none then), but just more comfortable overall. The play menu keeps growing.
KOC: “We’ve gotten to a lot more of the why lately. Which I love.”
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) December 20, 2019
When a QB knows why a play is called, there’s a lot higher chance of success. Haskins is having those conversations now.
O'Connell said @dh_simba7 and his knowledge of the playbook has improved during games. That has allowed O'Connell to give him coaching points before the play, which has helped Haskins read defenses. #Redskins #HTTR

O'Connell can tell by the way teams play @TheTerry_25 that they respect him and his ability. They're so threatened by his ability to take passes deep and O'Connell has been really impressed with the way he has caught the ball. #Redskins #HTTR
— Zach Selby (@DarDarBinx61) December 20, 2019
When asked what has made Terry McLaurin so effective, O’Connell pointed to two areas: speed and the ability to make contested catches. #Redskins

Wes Martin:
Just highlighted Martin again when talking about the offensive line allowing Dwayne to operate with a clean pocket. https://t.co/TZHPcDU3hV
