Redskins Injury Update: 4 players OUT, Terry McLaurin questionable vs Patriots

Another week, another extended injury list

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The injuries keep piling up for the Redskins as they enter October and their season is already over. This week four players have been ruled out for Sunday’s home game against the New England Patriots. Four more players are listed as questionable.

The Redskins top two TEs are both in the concussion protocol. Jordan Reed hasn’t been able to fully practice for the last 6 weeks since taking a dirty hit from Falcons safety Keanu Neal. Vernon Davis’ concussion was reported on Wednesday after he had symptoms following the Giants game. This leaves the Redskins with two TEs on the roster, Jeremy Sprinkle and Jerome Cunningham, unless they make a roster move.

Washington will also be missing their starting RG for another week. Brandon Scherff did not practice all week as he deals with an ankle injury suffered two weeks ago. Rookie Wes Martin replaced him in the lineup last week, and will get his 2nd start against the Patriots. ILB Josh Harvey-Clemons also didn’t practice and has been ruled out.

Jay Gruden announced today that Colt McCoy will start against New England. Case Keenum sprained his foot two weeks ago against the Bears on Monday Night Football. He started last week, but was benched for Dwayne Haskins Jr. because Gruden said his foot was affecting his play. Keenum was back in a boot this week, and was limited the last two days. Gruden would not say if Keenum would be available to be the backup this week, or if Haskins is the #2 again.

Terry McLaurin has been the Redskins best player on offense, but he missed last week with a hamstring injury suffered in practice on Thursday. He was a game-time decision, and it was reported he would likely play with what was described as a minor pull. That did not happen, and we are in the same situation this week. Gruden described his chances of playing as 50-50, and he will be a game-time decision again. The Redskins released Robert Davis and replaced him with Cam Sims from the practice squad.

Josh Norman tweaked his knee vs the Giants, and was limited Wednesday, then didn’t practice yesterday. He was a full participant today which is a good sign for Sunday. Chase Roullier was the other offensive lineman that missed the Giants game. Reports made his knee injury sound like it would keep him out longer than Scherff, but he was limited all week, and listed as questionable. If he can’t play he will be replaced by Tony Bergstrom at center again.
