People have been asking why isn't Jordan Reed on IR after he missed the first 5 games of the season. Adam Schefter reports the Redskins will finally be placing Reed on IR, which should end his 2019 season. The question is will it also end his time in Washington, and possibly the NFL?
When Reed received a dirty hit from Falcons safety Keanu Neal in the Redskins 3rd preseason game, it was his 7th documented concussion. Reed has talked about needing more time to recover as the concussions kept coming. He has also tried to hide symptoms in the past leading to more damage.
Reed is signed through 2021, but there is very little guaranteed money left. The Redskins would only have $1.8 million in dead cap while saving $8.5 million next year if they move on. He is due $9 million in 2021 with no dead cap.
Didn’t make sense to keep him on roster anymore. No sign was getting close. Shame; looked terrific in camp before that hit. Now wonder about his future. https://t.co/8gQtIy2npv
