Redskins Coaching News: Broncos DC Joe Woods targeted for DB Coach; Torrian Gray already fired? Todd Bowles for DC?

The changes are coming

UPDATE: Woods still expected to visit Redskins

Jay Gruden has been told he's the Redskins Head Coach for 2019, but there have been rumblings about changes on his staff for weeks. Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky has been the guy most people have pegged as the sacrificial lamb this year. Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach Bill Callahan is another coach who could be leaving/getting replaced.

Mike Klis is reporting this morning that the Redskins have shown interest in Denver Broncos DC Joe Woods to become their new Defensive Backs Coach. That position has been held by Torrian Gray for the last two seasons, but he has reportedly been let go. Gray was highly touted when he came to the Redskins in 2017, but there have been communication(and other) problems in the secondary.

The Broncos are reportedly holding on to their assistant coaches until John Elway hires a new HC to replace the recently fired Vance Joseph. If the new Head Coach hires his own DC, Woods will be available for the newly vacated DB coaching job.

Manusky is here for now, but that could change very quickly. Former Jets HC Todd Bowles was a name connected to the Redskins as a possible new DC. He is also reportedly the top choice to join Bruce Arians with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
