Redskins Injury Report: WR Cam Sims to IR with high ankle sprain

New, comments

The rookie's season ended on the opening kickoff

It was reported earlier today that Brian Quick was re-signing with the Redskins. The veteran was cut last week so Washington could keep two rookie receivers, Trey Quinn and Cam Sims.

Unfortunately both of the rooks suffered high ankle sprains in Sunday's win over the Cardinals and were carted to the locker room. They both got MRIs today, and we have been waiting to hear the severity of their injuries.

With the news of the Quick signing, it was expected that one or both of them were going to miss some time and possibly need to be placed on IR. Craig Hoffman reports that Cam Sims will be placed on IR, and will be replaced by Quick on the roster.

There is still no word on Trey Quinn who took over the punt return duties from Jamison Crowder in Week 1. If Quinn goes to IR too, they could return to Crowder, or give rookie CB Greg Stroman a chance. They will still be thin at WR with Maurice Harris in the concussion protocol and unlikely to play this week. The Redskins have three WRs available on the practice squad; Simmie Cobbs Jr., Darvin Kidsy, and Jehu Chesson.
