UPDATE: Add Adrian Peterson to the list of visits
The #Redskins are hosting veteran RB Adrian Peterson, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. The Pro Bowler is an intriguing option for Washington.

Matter of fact, on the phone with Adrian Peterson right now. He just landed in Texas just now and literally just heard about his visit with the #Redskins. He says "I fly in tonight. I'm down for working out or whatever I have to do to make the team," Peterson told me. https://t.co/LDzQCJOnop

UPDATE: Orleans Darkwa unlikely to sign with Redskins?
Can confirm Orleans Darkwa worked out with the #Redskins this morning. Flew in last night. Source says Darkwa is looking for a starting opportunity and it doesn't look like that's going to align with the Redskins at the moment. Things can change, but doesn't look like he'll sign.

The Redskins have not had much luck keeping their running backs healthy in the preseason this year. They lost 2nd round draft pick Derrius Guice in the first game due to a torn ACL. The 2nd game saw three more RBs go down with injury. Martez Carter was waived/injured due to a leg injury. Samaje Perine will reportedly miss at least a week, with an ankle sprain and had a boot on his left foot at yesterday's practice. And Byron Marshall also sprained his ankle and will reportedly miss 2-4 weeks.
This means the Redskins are down to Rob Kelley and Kapri Bibbs as their only "fully" healthy backs, with Chris Thompson still not playing in a game since a broken leg ended his season last year. Jay Gruden said yesterday the team would likely bring in some RBs for tryouts today.
The names started being reported last night, and former Giants RB Orleans Darkwa was the first one leaked. He reportedly finished his solo workout already. The second name was Lenard Tillery, an UDFA last year who spent the year on IR with the Rams.
Also told Redskins brought in RB Lenard Tillery for a look today, per source. Tillery played at Southern with Danny Johnson. Spent last season on IR with the Rams.

The latest name to come up is one Alex Smith will be very familiar with. Former Kansas Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is 31, but looking to play another season. Charles has dealt with knee issues(ACL, meniscus) the last few seasons. He signed a 1-year deal with the Broncos last year, but only had 296 yards rushing with 1 TD and 123 yards receiving. Does he have anything left. and is he really worth a shot at this point?
"Personally, I think Darkwa is a solid fit for the Redskins’ power running scheme. He’s only 26 with limited wear-and-tear in the NFL, and averaged 4.4 yards per carry last year behind an atrocious Giants’ offensive line. He’s solidly built at 6-0, 210lbs and runs well between the tackles. Another Tulane alum, Darkwa profiles to me as a better version of Rob Kelley." ~ Aaron Lesher
Also, was told Jamaal Charles will have just a normal free agent type visit. Means no need for a workout. https://t.co/npDLifWFX3

Free agent RB Jamaal Charles is scheduled to visit with the #Redskins today, per source.

One free agent who is not coming in for a visit for now? Adrian Peterson.
