NBC Washington's JP Finley reports that Derrius Guice will have surgery to repair his torn ACL on Friday. The surgery will be performed by Dr. James Andrews who has been on the Redskins payroll for years, and is a world-renowned surgeon.
There have been very few details about Guice's injury except for the general torn ACL designation. After surgery, we should hear about the extent of the injury, and his expected return timetable. Guice hyperextended the same knee at LSU last year, but played the majority of the year.
Guice is expected to make a full recovery, and with the injury happening so early in the year, should be ready to rejoin the team next offseason. Recovery from ACL surgery can be 6-9 months for players to return to football activities.
