Jay Gruden gave the official update we didn't want to hear about WR Robert Davis, he's done for the year and needs major surgery. Gruden also talked about the amount of reps the starters and players rehabbing injuries will get against the Jets. Practices likely won't be full contact due to injuries on both teams.

Gruden to the podium. Davis is out for the year. They'll put him on IR and he's looking at a 9 month recovery from surgery. He wasn't sure of the exact injuries. I'll get that later for you guys.

Starters vs the Jets:
Gruden says Redskins have scripted out the reps for the next few days against the Jets. Might do a little bit of live work but probably not much
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 12, 2018
Plan with the Jets doesn't sound like a lot of live hitting, per Gruden. Both teams banged up.

Gruden says individual players are on different “pitch counts” but hope is for Trent, Payne, Reed etc to all get work vs Jets

Kapri Bibbs/Byron Marshall:
"They've both been good. Kapri missed a couple of days. Byron has been excellent...Kapri flashed some great signs last year"

- Grudenon Kapri Bibbs and Byron Marshall#Redskins
On the RB situation: "Byron has been excellent. He's embraced that third down role, but he's also stout enough to take some first and second down carries."
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) August 12, 2018
Also was complimentary of Kapri Bibbs in the same manor. Says he can do more than 3rd down stuff.
Season-ending injuries:
Jay Gruden's #Redskins team has had three players suffer season-ending injuries in four days. "It ways on me a little bit," Gruden said. "I feel like I'm doing something wrong."

Gruden says all the injuries weigh on him personally, especially since it’s all offensive players, but the team knows the reality of pro football

Gruden: This is a tough game a your body gets contorted at times. I feel bad that the guys who got hurt are offensive players and good kids. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/SoKOEsq2ie

Gruden said of the injuries that sometimes he feels he's done something wrong... asked if anything can do to prevent. With Guice and Davis, both fluke -- turned leg etc. Gruden: "there is a fine line. you still have to practice. you still have to get them ready to play a game"
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 12, 2018
Maurice Harris:
Gruden remains high on Mo Harris: "Mo is a great all-around receiver for us. We're confident he can line up anywhere." Huge part of value is being able to run routes all 3 spots.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 12, 2018
Shaun Dion Hamilton/Josh Harvey-Clemons:
Harvey-Clemons is also out today. He continues to battle a hamstring injury.
