The Redskins announced several roster moves following Thursday night's injury-filled preseason loss to the New England Patriots. Two players went on IR, one was waived/injured, and three players were signed.
The biggest move is obviously Derrius Guice going to IR after tearing his ACL in the 1st quarter on a beautiful run. Guice's loss is a body blow to the Redskins and the fans who had sky-high hopes for the rookie RB this year. The Redskins could now be looking at a RB by committee situaion with Rob Kelley, Samaje Perine, Chris Thompson, and Byron Marshall/Kapri Bibbs according to Jay Gruden.
A new bylaw adopted by @NFL this year allowed #Redskins to put Guice & Garner on I-R & opened up 90-man roster spots. Previous rule be4 this year forced teams to waive non vested-vets (rooks, etc) first before putting on I-R until 53 cutdown. #Skins lost Tevin Mitchell that way.

TE Mannaseh Garner was also placed on IR with a torn ACL. FB Elijah Wellman, whose holding penalty brought the run that Guice was injured on back, was waived/injured. There was no injury reported post-game. The dream of a FB is over again.
The Redskins also signed three players today. TE J.P. Holtz, LB Jeff Knox and DL Jalen Wilkerson were added to Washington's roster.
