#Redskins QB Alex Smith was under heavy pressure on one snap from Matt Ioannidis and went to his left and then to his right, but what I liked was that he was able to re-set his feet before throwing and found Vernon Davis in the right flat for a completion. Not sexy but effective.
— Chris Russell (@Russellmania621) July 31, 2018
From Tuesday's #Redskins practice: Alex Smith had some moments - a perfect 3-step drop & fire to Maurice Harris in stride & beating Fabian Moreau in stride. However, he was also under pressure a lot and was erratic at times. Up and down day based on what I saw.
— Chris Russell (@Russellmania621) July 31, 2018
4) Gruden mentioned Pete Robertson in his presser. Sure enough, he did well in 1-1s. Beat rookie T Geron Christian (he struggles in these settings so far); also beat Scherff when aligned as inside rusher. 5) Two RBs who will make it tough on the coaches: Bibbs and Marshall.

Chris Thompson said he likely won't be fully recovered from his broken fibula until November, a year after getting hurt. He's had a handful of surgeries and recoveries in his career. Nothing compares to this one.https://t.co/uc2UL9x9Af
— John Keim (@john_keim) July 31, 2018
A few random notes from Tuesday's #Redskins practice: Chris Thompson looks like he will still be a huge part of this offense & hasn't lost any speed or wiggle. He ripped off a big run, reading his blocks well on the interior & also had a nice over the shoulder screen grab.

Rookie report: Running back Derrius Guice has drawn praise from coaches for how he is in the meeting room, with running backs coach Randy Jordan saying he asks questions to get answers -- not just to ask them. On the field, Guice worked in pass... https://t.co/yByiZuRJ1d
— John Keim (@john_keim) July 31, 2018
Whether or not Quinton Dunbar starts remains to be seen as veteran Orlando Scandrick continues to work in that role. Regardless, Dunbar's improvement has been noticeable in camp. If nothing else he'll solidify the Redskins' nickel coverage playing... https://t.co/9VCKynyfdi

#Redskins Day 5 practice notes from me and @gforce4preach:
— Jake Kring-Schreifels (@jakeks19) July 31, 2018
- Chris Thompson gets more team reps
- Strong days from Brian Quick and Maurice Harris
- Quinton Dunbar keeps improvinghttps://t.co/Z47YssnGY2

Jordan Reed and Ty Nsekhe had planned rest days as they recover from offseason surgeries. That was why they missed practice. Mason Foster has a strained stomach muscle and that's why he was limited today. #Redskins

--Paul Richardson underwhelming
--Is Lauvao underrated?
--Don't see Adonis Alexander on the 53https://t.co/J5DHtUACAc
Lots of confusion in the secondary today. Torrian Gray has been frustrated

Mo Harris with a nice catch down field over the middle w Fabian Moreau in good coverage. Harris lost his helmet going to the ground.

WR roster battle quite real
Snap four and the defense brings the heat.

Alex Smith leaves the pocket and finds Vernon Davis sitting up right for a short but safe gain of about 6 yards. #Redskins

Byron Marshall in at RB.
Smith with a laser finds Richardson who dives to make the catch with Dunbar draped all over him. 15 to 20 yards deep over the middle.#Redskins

Impressive grab and toe tap from Trey Quinn. But if it was live football Kenny Ladler was in position for a big hit
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) July 31, 2018
Kevin Hogan with a nice out pattern throw to Trey Quinn. Quinn is impressive with his route running. #Redskins
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) July 31, 2018
Alex Smith just walked up to Josh Doctson following that set and mercifully I am in ear-shot;
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
"Great work Josh. Great work. Looking good".
He slaps his back, smiles, and walks back to his QBs. #Redskins
Trey Quinn playing a lot in the slot today. Jay Gruden says he’s got some of the strongest hands he’s seen at the position. #redskins
— Chick Hernandez (@MrChickSports) July 31, 2018
Josh Doctson is the only 1st team WR consistently beating his defender in these 7 on 7 scrimmages.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
A combination of route running and pure size.#Redskins
Josh Doctson works open underneath and beats Quinton Dunbar for a short gain. #Redskins
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
New kickoff rules are going to take some getting used to. No running starts. Looks funny. If I were a ST coach, I would put an emphasis on starting mechanics to get everyone going.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) July 31, 2018
Snap four is another win for the defense, with the Smith pass hitting the turf incomplete. Was looking for Doctson but the DBs were well-positioned.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
That ends this round of 11 on 11s.
Snap two
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
Another good gain to the right by Guice.
I might be imagining it but Guice has run better to the right than the left so far in camp.
I don't know why. It's almost certainly nothing. #Redskins
Ton of mixing and matching at ILB with Foster on the side. Vigil, Brown, JHC and Hamilton all getting first team run.

Snap four is a Smith play action, but @ZachBrown_55 is in his face immediately for the would-be sack.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
That was a great rush by Brown. #Redskins
Snap two
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
Smith hands off to Kelley who bounces left, but only gets as far as Jon Allen who shits his dreams of any positive yards down. #Redskins

— John Keim (@john_keim) July 31, 2018
The disparity in quality between the starters and the second unit OL is huge.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) July 31, 2018
Trent, Shawn, Morgan etc... All just on another level compared to the guys behind them on this roster. #Redskins
Morgan Moses and Trent Williams lined up with first team offense. I believe that’s the first time we’ve seen that. It’s half speed drills though
