Redskins Season Predictions: Two-Deep Opening Day Depth Chart

Washington Redskins v New York Giants Photo by Abbie Parr/Getty Images

For the first time in a long time, the Redskins have talented starters almost across the board, and decent depth behind them.

I do not expect much competition this summer for starting positions, with left guard and cornerback (opposite Josh Norman) being the two exceptions. I do however expect there to be some pretty intense position battles for back-up spots come training camp.

RB - Who will be the back-up to feature back Derrius Guice?

WR - This should be an interesting camp battle. Can new-comers Cam Simms and Simmie Cobbs overtake veterans like Brain Quick and Maurice Harris? Will Robert Davis step up in year two, and take on a more prominent role in the offense? Can Trey Quinn play all three receiver spots?

LT - Who will back up Trent Williams? Will it be the rookie Garon Christian or veteran Ty Nsekhe. Nsekhe struggled with the speed rush last year, and I believe Christian has the better athleticism to match up against speed on the outside.

LG - Will it be Shawn Lauvao or Ty Nsekhe on the left side? Can TJ Clemmings and Kyle Kalis be quality back-ups at guard?

NT - Can rookie Tim Settle beat out veterans Phil Taylor and Ziggy Hood for a spot behind Payne?

CB - Who will win the starting spot opposite Josh Norman? Who will be the primary slot corner replacing the departed Kendall Fuller?

S - The depth is a bit shaky (to say the least) behind starters DJ Swearinger and Montae Nicholson. Can Troy Apke contribute as a rookie?

Here is my projected two-deep before the start of training camp next month.
