Redskins veterans have been working out during the offseason, and the rookies had their mini-camp two weeks ago. Now it's time for everyone to get together and hit the field for organized team activities(OTAs). This set of OTAs started yesterday and runs through tomorrow, but today is the only practice open to the media. Head Coach Jay Gruden and new starting QB Alex Smith are scheduled to speak after today's practice.
May 22-24 - First set of OTAs
May 29-31 - Second set of OTAs
June 4-7 - Final set of OTAs
June 11-13 - Mandatory minicamp
#Redskins OTA practice notes from me and @bnvanbalen. First looks at Alex Smith, Derrius Guice and Paul Richardson. Plus, observations of the defensive line rotation and cornerback Greg Stroman. https://t.co/UGSHk0wJfV pic.twitter.com/s5MpKPoWrM

First time in a long time: Here are your Redskins OTA observations. Items on Guice, Harvey-Clemons, Alex Smith, the defensive backs and a Mike London appearance: https://t.co/XWxvlaM65V

Alex Smith was decisive as a passer; saw him try to keep alive only 1 play in 7-7, but he did not run; still threw it...Took some shots in situations I'm not sure he would have in a game. But, he told us, now is the time to do that -- see what happens.
— John Keim (@john_keim) May 23, 2018
It's hard to truly measure running backs until the games begin, but you can see traits. With Derrius Guice, could see the ability to plant and cut with decisiveness. Vision. Caught the ball fine, a lot on quick outs.
— John Keim (@john_keim) May 23, 2018
One thing on Swearinger liking to yap it up: Paul Richardson said Swearinger also gives receivers tips on the sidelines, providing information on what they might be giving away based on stance, etc.
— John Keim (@john_keim) May 23, 2018
Zach Brown not here today for a practical reason: He is moving.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) May 23, 2018
WR Robert Davis didn't participate. Toe issue doesn't work with turf.
Paul Richardson first to cross but more impressive to see Morgan Moses running too pic.twitter.com/LyRPhLZcAE

A LOT of chippiness in 11-11 work. Another deep ball to Richardson. Dunbar there. Incomplete. DJ to Richardson: “top dog! Top dog!” Smith giving Richardson a shot with these throws tho.
— John Keim (@john_keim) May 23, 2018
And...Quinton Dunbar just nicely broke up a deep pass over-the-top for Richardson and screamed emphatically along with D.J. Swearinger at Richardson. #Redskins @1067theFan

Alex Smith’s anticipation of his passes to receivers is impressive. He’s precise and makes extremely quick decisions.
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) May 23, 2018
Alex Smith just hit a bomb to Paul Richardson. Good coverage from Greg Stroman but the ball was perfect and Richardson went up and got it.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) May 23, 2018
Trey Quinn with a nice catch in 7 on 7. Contorting backwards to pull it in. #redskins
— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) May 23, 2018
Josh Harvey-Clemons out w Mason Foster on 1st team defense. Haven’t seen Zach Brown today.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) May 23, 2018
Catching punts today is: Crowder, Stroman, Norman, Harris, Pierson-El, Quinn, Richardson. #Redskins
— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) May 23, 2018
Your Redskins 1st team OL in the first week of OTA: Christian, Lauvao, Roullier, Scherff, Kling.

Take this as you will but Rob Kelley took first snap w first team offense. Then Perine.

Morgan Moses not wearing a jersey but here. Also not wearing any brace or anything I can see on that ankle pic.twitter.com/pt3RpiqM5b
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) May 23, 2018
OTA’s are underway. Robert Davis is off to the side with trainers. Morgan Moses is not in uniform, but is warming up with his teammates. That’s huge. He couldn’t walk not that long ago (ankle surgery).

Derrius Guice to @ByKimberleyA: “I don’t care what nobody says. ‘Oh man, you’ve got to just enjoy this’ — Man, [expletive] that. I came into that green room that day to get picked in the first round." https://t.co/ilrkTTfxxn

#Redskins guard Tyler Catalina went down during OTAs yesterday and left practice, per source. Don’t know severity of injury. Will learn more today. This comes a week After Kouandjio out for season w torn quad.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) May 23, 2018
Heard same. Was told no biggie ultimately. Obviously, Redskins can't afford any more OL injuries. https://t.co/Px8kbBA85H

New pieces on offense lead to plenty of questions for #Redskins at OTAs https://t.co/NHUxYdn9QL
