The Redskins selected local product, defensive tackle Tim Settle out of Virginia Tech, at 163rd overall. This was a huge value pick in my eyes as I had a 3rd round grade on him (as did many others, if not higher) and would have been a good option in the middle rounds — even if the Redskins had not selected Da’Ron Payne at 13th overall.
Lance Zierlein comped him to Vince Wilfork, one of the best nose tackles to ever play the game. I’d say that’s pretty good company. He has tremendous size and strength with some penetration ability, but needs to work on his conditioning to stand up to the rigors of the NFL game.
The infusion of young talent to the Redskins’ defensive front means they can likely look to part ways with aging veterans Ziggy Hood and others this year.
